View Full Version : Lvl 13 zon LLD, what merc?
I got almost everything figured out on my lvl 13 zon LLD, just wondering what merc should I use? She is fully GRushed so can you any merc, i was thinking act2 nm offensive for might, but i heard the aura did not activate at such a low level, i could also either load the merc with dmg, or with life...and what is the pvp penalty on merc's? appreciate all the help, and if anyone has a 4os gothic on East hardcore ladder pm me so u can gib me!

To be honest, your merc won't last half a second so it becomes superfluous. The only thing I could think of would be to load up a long war bow/light plate/mask with +9 maxers and try it that way. Her damage wouldn't be spectacular but it would be ignored more readily than an act 2 merc

Well, not entirely true 'Shade. His merc might not last a second, but with a lucky jab... Merc PvP penalty was 1/2th both ways last time I checked.
Blessed Aim merc (more AR), 6 sock eth pike of % ED-ness, 7 sock gear with %eds or maxers (% ed's aint that bad when using a 200 max dam weapon). Biggons Bonnet also springs to mind as it comes with 30% ED.
its'll end up at about 150 pvp dam per jab hit or something. just dont count on it.
I personally would consider a Merc in a Duel as bad form unless it was agreed upon. No PKin or PPKin sure why not......

if ur just hunting chars then yes id suggest using a merc
but for pvp i dobut your merc last long enough to do significant damage but if u got the wealth why not

Generally I aim for the merc first in any scenario. Since you're at 13 you will be squaring off against chargers/zealots...Charge the merc, shift zeal until I flux or she fluxes.
Merc's aren't generally looked at as bad mannered (well, the same crowd that complains about 'juvs and such, while loading their maphack and chickenscript will surely complain, but who listens to them anyway?).
I don't usually bother with a merc, as they simply die too quickly to be of much good. When I do though, I always go with a might mercenary. The way I see it, if I can get the might activated (go through a random wp, and let the merc start jabbing monsters until it activates, don't wait until the duel to get it activated), and then keep myself between the other dueler and my merc, he will be of some help. Basically, the merc is going to die in one hit, but until it does, any hits you land will have a bit more damage to em thanks to the might.
Small help, but I generally find it a bit more of nuisance than anything else. My current dueler, a level 22 zealot doesnt even have a merc, and I dont really intend to get him one. My 37 druids had them, but I dont think they really helped much at all.
If you get one, I'd say make it a might merc, and don't even bother with spectacular gear, he's just there for the aura in my mind.

Worse comes to worse it can split a zeal, though that probably won't hold up.
I honestly thought that until like lvl 18 mercs auras didn't turn on?
That may be old info, but I swear I had a 16 jabber a couple years ago with a dressed might merc that I couldn't get to aura up :(
Cheers

P.S. I might consider Holy Freeze if it works, but I don't have all the info at this moment
Well, the Act 2 Norm Merc aruras turn on at lower than 18, Blessed, Prayer and Defiance, but there might be somehting preventing the NM or Hell ones from turning it on at low lvls I wouldnt know as I dont rush guys up to get one of them and be under 18.

Might activates at level 19
Holy Freeze activates at level 27
Thorns activate at level 31
Normal mercs turn on auras from level 1.
