Getting back into the game...

Hey guys, it's been a few years since I played the game and so I've lost all my old characters that were on Bnet :( Now, I've completed the game all the way through multiple times and I really don't feel like doing it again. Basically, I'm looking for the fastest way to get up to Hell Cows (or whatever it is people use to level quickly now).

Unfortunately, I don't have anything of value to give to someone for a run through. I'm not looking for one of you to run me through, don't worry ;) I'm mostly looking for any tips people have to get run through acts or whatnot.

I also heard that they changed some things so it was harder to get rushed through. Is this true? Sorry if this stuff has been posted elsewhere, I browsed the forums for the past few days looking for answers but came up short.

Oh, one other thing- the best way to get runes still The Countess? Just thinking ahead for when I start needing to buy MF gear.

Thanks for any tips you guys may have, and my apologies if this stuff is answered elsewhere.

actually its easier to get rushed, you can get grushed ive a level2 pally thats in hell. grushed is Glitch rushed, you can stand in town in act 5 and get the quests if ur in the party.Unfortunatly norm is the hardest to find someone willing to rush .The reason is you usually have to give up ur forge to get rushed and most highlevel rushers dont wanna bother with the less than desirable runes that drop from norm forge.Get norm done and its smooth sailin from there.Once ur in hell try to join some chaos games for uber leveling.Even low level chare benefit from hell chaos runs because the exp is off the hook in there.

I'm in the same boat. Haven't really touched the game since 1.09, and now I'm out of the loop on some things. To the OP, I strongly recommend you play ladder. Why? because look in the trading forum, almost all the trades are ladder. You can get stuff for pgems that would have gone for an soj in 1.09.

I have my own questions though:

* I've looked around, but for some strange reason I can't seem to find a comprehensive guide which explains what changed for 1.10 and 1.11. I guess I'm looking for something which probably was written 3 years ago, heh. I have so many questions about the details but I don't want to flood the thread with them. Any help?

* In the trading forum: what in the world does BIN mean? ISO means "I'm seeking out"...err right? :confused:

* What's all this new stuff about keys and such? I found a key of destruction or whatever off of hell countess. What do I do with it, what are organ sets, how do I get to the ubers, and what is the point of fighting them, etc. See Point #1.

* The drop rates seem higher now. Am I imagining that? Wearing garbage gear (gemmed armor and such) I found shaftstop, arreats, and vampgaze off NM meph in about 30 minutes. In the same weekend, I found eaglehorn and shako and a bunch of stuff I can't even remember. Plus people are trading the godly .09 stuff for pgems, what's up?

* I have seen old threads talking about glitching mephisto. In other words, you join games where the game creator has already done mephisto. In that way, you never get quest credit, and always get the extra big "first drop". Basically you have to level up in NM Baal and hell pit runs. Does this still work?

theres 3 keys key of terror,key of hate and i beleive key of destruction(not sure only seen it refered to as D-KEY).
3 keys will open uber portals,each portal will yield and organ,organ set will open uber trist IIRC (if i recall correctly)

Ive heard that all chars now start with 100 mf(magic find)not sure of the validity of this ,then any mf you can add ,charms rings ammy,equipment yeilds higher mf drops,Pgems are popular because they are used to roll high Ilvl (item level)charms dropped from baal and a few select others in order to get a chance at rolling skillers +skills into the charms.

Thanks for the tips! It's unfortunate that I don't have any friends still playing that can run me through :( Guess I'll go bum around looking for people willing to run me through :P Thanks again.

During my brief foray into bnet, I was lucky enough to hit upon a few nice guys. Rushing me and giving me a load of starter gear. I think you'll find a few nice guys when starting out; the muppets seem to appear as you're more established and trading.
