View Full Version : The tale of the crappy TPPKer

So I've just started out a MA Bowazon and I'm in the middle of getting Cain in Normal. I'm lvl 11 and this lvl 9 sorc joins. We party and he offers to let me loot his corpse (probably thinking that I would extend him the same courtesy). Anyway, we start playing and I noticed that his charged bolts were mostly directed at me. During this time, I kept on running behind him because I read up on this kind of stuff here in the forums and I knew what he was probably trying to do. In any case, he drops out of the game and comes back a minute later. We party again but this time I don't immediately open a tp for him. When he asks for one, I take a breath and open one for him, but I stayed close to it. He then proceeds to walk some distance away and opens one of own. Immediately, I'm through mine and immediately he hostiles me. I tell him, "nice try," and he leaves.

So my bowazon has survived for the moment. I'm pretty sure that guy was practicing though. I mean Charged Bolt? At best he could get maybe 30 pts of damage on me before resistances. Not nearly that effective for a TPPK attack. Still, I'll be keeping an eye for him and others like him. Thanks for all the wonderful advice on playing hardcore!

yea, gotta love the incompetent ones.had the same thing happen in a norm cows game.this one sorc just kept trying to following me around.she was 24 and i was 18.i was wearing stealth armor and those treads of chthon so i was pretty fast.kept trying to cast blizzard over me.

'bout the only TPPK you should fear below level 24 or so is an amazone. An 18 amazone can dish out some 150 PvP max per guided, and two-three can kill lots of people. I used a level 18 zon to pk a bit in 1.10, but it was too easy to kill people, and somewhat boring.

Prior to 1.10, a 21 amazone was capable of 500 PvP damage per bolt with Ichorsting (50% chance of pierce). No shield? Dead player.

Unless you think they might be chanted of course.

blizzard is so dumb, if they would add a switch so the game creator could tun off pvp it would reduce server load drastically because a lot of people would quit

That statement just ain't true to me.

Alot MORE people would play in general, moreso HC, if they didn't have to worry about PK.

Its as simple as either no spells you cast harming anything till 10 seconds after hostile, or ALL spells disappearing when you go to town. Of course that doesn't stop bad tp's and the likes, but at least you have a fighting chance with those.

CB though? I have to laugh at that.

I don't know how hard it would be, but I doubt having it so if you are in town all spells/minions do 0 damage. Would eliminate towncasting druids as well ;)

That's pretty brilliant and it sounds pretty easy to implement. I know I'd play HC Bnet if this was the case. I have a 76 sorc from last spring and there are NO pub games on bnet (I think she's still NM). This was true of ladder as well before she dropped to NL in the reset.

It is very easy. The problem is that Blizzard just doesn't care about this game anymore, and they really have no reason to, from a business stand point.

Unless you think they might be chanted of course.

Chanted low levels are great fun for my LLDer/PKer Slap on some hotspurs and hostile a game full of them. I don't even need to hunt em, just sit in town and wait for all of the 1-20 physical damage, 150 life characters with some high level chant on to come running in droves to duel, somehow thinking I haven't figured out they're all chanted in the game called "1337chantz34" with the level 65 sorceress chilling in town, who told me she could "chant, chantall, or chantmerc" when I entered the game. Max block, 90% fire resist and 860 life>chant. Maybe I should get a nokozan too so I can be completely immune.

The best part is when the chantress herself wants to duel

Ahh I think I got a new favorite, shouldve screenshotted it!

So I saw Yak in the xbananax channel, and he mentioned TPPKers in chant games, I told him to give me a shout if he ran across any more. Lo and behold, about 10 minutes later, he whispers me saying there's a level 31 amazon in his chant game TPPKing, so I head in...

I slap on my hotspurs and nokozan for 95% fire resist and hostile him!

He immediately starts using that lame and incredibly annoying flash-hack thing on me, but I go ahead and go out anyways. He complains that I'm TGing him, so I give him a little room (Apparently TGing is BM, but flashhacking me and TPPKing is not, go figure). So he comes out, I charge towards him, as soon as I click him, he disappears through a TP... he's using that damn chicken to town whenever I click him script.

Great. I've got a TPPKing, Chant-botted, Chicken-on clicking, Flashhacking kid on my hands. He dodges around a couple more duels, manages to flux me once (he was using slow as well, and managed to get about 10 chanted GA's circling me. Probably would've been ok with 95% fire and almost 800 life, but I didnt want to take the chance given he had roughly a 3k chant)

He just loves this, despite the fact I've chickened him about 5 times by now. I actually did this same thing earlier in the day, the auto-tp chicken is easy to beat, just get next to them and shift+zeal without clicking them, the chicken wont go off unless you click their character directly.

He managed to escape once, but came back out, charged into position, and one shift click later, 3 things simultaneously happen, in this order:
1) PlzzDntKillME was Slain by TheDarkSide
2) (His chicken shoots up a TP)
3)PlzzDntKillMe (*rfb34) has left our world...

Thanks for the ear script kiddie!

Awesome job Matt!!!

Oh I wish I coulda been there to see that. I woulda had to whisper him about how he got owned afterwards.

One thing though, if it can be posted here, what is the flash-hack thing? Does it make your screen flash like T storm does or something? I don't think I have heard of that yet.

Matt
31-10-2007, 16:51
It's a script which makes your screen flash from normal appearance to black. So basically, the entire D2 window goes from you seeing what you should be seeing, to a completely black screen and back. It tends to go back every second or two, but only the quick flash, so while its incredibly annoying, and makes it harder to see, you can still play when it's on you. I'm not sure exactly how it works from their end, it's some script, and they choose whose screen to flash I believe.

Congrats Matt.

I think PK is part of the game, both for the PKer and the PKed. Wouldnt be realistic if you couldn't be stabbed in the back/stab someoen in the back now would it? It's definitely a part of the game that can be frustrating, but so is life sometimes.

PK is fine....and openly accepted here in this forum but TPPK is an unforgivable offense and YES they should all be put to death! ;)

And Matt did an excellent job at it! I'd be willing to donate a few maxers or stuff to the cause anyday.

Thanks for the explanation.

I was goofing around on West last night for no real reason. I checked into a chant game.

I didn't really notice the level 21 amazon that was following me around the black marsh, not that I cared too much. I noticed that she'd be positioned just about off screen from me.

Boom - the hostile sound hits, I SIDESTEP the arrows and the script kiddie goes nuts thinking I hack(Who's he kidding?)
Anyways, I didn't bother to run away or exit and I was gunned down when she came back and shot me from several screens away(She ran away first, hah)

It sure makes me feel better knowing that there's good people here I can chill with and they don't do that sort of shizzle.

Yesterday, I was in a public game. No one should have been high enough to be in act five that I noticed when I joined.

No sooner had I gone to get some bodies for corpses, Eldritch/Shenk than I notice I'm taking damage, then the hostile comes. It was some zon trying to use guided arrow.

I've never seen it where you take damage before a hostile, so it must be some bug in the hostility code, I don't know. But the stupid brat didn't get me below halfway so they truly did suck.

I'm sure the fact I'd been pumping my Vitality had something to do with it. I wish I had gotten a look at their lvl though.

The script makes the whole thing happen very fast! Throw in your average lag or desync and it can seem almost instant.

Ugh. These kids make me sick. There was a "gang" of them last night tppking and taking screenshots of the ears(Yeah, proof of skill, right?) Anyways....

It’s especially sad that it’s so rampant it is almost considered “normal”. If you go to sites like d2jsp everyone and their mother use hacks and TPPK. Every single thread “bragging” about a kill with an included screenshot is them standing in town inside of their portal.

I have no problem with PKs in general. Hell, I used to have a PK character way back when I originally played in classic. Had a high level lace/WW barb with maxed out run speed skill and run gear. I would hostile in town and then try to hunt people down. Lots of people would stick around thinking they are safe but I was able to cover ground pretty fast and surprise people. I eventually died to a zon/pally conc combo (dumb of me to even try).

HC pvp/pk is totally ruined now. There is no point in attempting any pvp because your opponent will 99% of the time be using the smorgasbord of kiddy hacks that are out there that bliz apparently will never fix.

The fun of meeting new people and playing through the game in real pick up 8 player games is pretty much non existent due to this. You have to stick to your friends list or inevitably be killed by a child with a hack.

I've got 4 computers connected to my network at home. ATM I have two full sets of cd keys, Classic/LOD and a third Classic CD Key, that I can host two diff chars per game.

I'm thinking about getting enough keys to run two instances of the game per pc so that I can host my own full games passworded.

If I do this though I think bnet limits the ip addresses to 4 connections.

edit:
I just looked at the d2jsp forums. I about laughed when I saw a forum for 'legit dueling'. Legit my ***.
