When Looking for ethereal/socketed weapons..

I'm mainly looking for ethereal or weapons that come with sockets in cow games.

I'ts been awhile since I've played to I got some questions.

I remember seeing something about MF and chances to get socket items. What was it? Was having more MF and more ppl in game = better chance of finding socket/ethereal items? Or was it the less MF but More people in game that helps me find items with sockets?

If you're looking for plain, ethereal items, less MF is better. More players decreases the monsters' chance of dropping nothing.

More players = more drops = more of whatever you're looking for

More MF = more magic/rare/set/unique items = less socketables



EDIT: As far as I know, nothing increases the chance of an item being ethereal.

more mf = more chance of any given base-item being blue/green/yellow/gold

more people in game = less chance of 'no drop' being selected when drops are calculated.

in short, if it's plain socky gear your after, ditch all your %MF.

as for ethereal weps, 1/10 of any given items are eth, so you'll find a lot more plain white items than eth ones and ofc, the number of sockets in said eth item may or may not be useful.

no-sox, non-superior eth items can be socketed in the cube for random socky's or given to Larzuk for max-sockys.

as for 'where to run', cows are good because they are of a decent level, there's lots of them and they aren't immune to anything (bosses and the king being the exception). i've found a lot of nice socketable gear around Nihlathak too btw.
