Awesome Frenzy sword(maybe?)

I picked up this executioner sword from a minon in the Halls of Vaught on a Nilathak run. Wondering if anyone thinks it's worth an upgrade? Maybe with a 40-15 it would be good.

Also I know a frenzy barb with swords is not the best way to go, but I've done it with axes, I wanted to try something new.

Id say no to upping it or even using it because:

1. Its not etheral self repair, damage is low.
2. Your char is showing this item as a two hand damage, so id hate to see the one hand damage figures.
3. +2 barb skills is good, ill give u that.
4. IAS does nothing for a frenzier when weapon equipped on off hand, therefor adding a 40/15 jewel is a total waste.
5. Ohm rune (50% damage) will give better damage (10% more) than the jewel, and, over 20 times cheaper than 40/15. (understanding the mechanics of frenzy and increased attack speed is a dying art)
6. 223% damage isnt much
7. 31% damage to demons is nice and all, but go check Grief.
8. 57att against demons, nice but, will do virtually nothing.
9. 7% mana steel is great, but so does Death Runeword.
10. 7strength, just a little gravy, nothing else.
11. Grief will easily beat your weapon even when upped.

On saying that, i would swap out a highend rune word if i found this:

20% Chance of Crushing Blow
Repairs 1 Durability in 20 Seconds
Ethereal (Cannot Be Repaired) Socketed (1)

This is possible with the three prefix and suffix "rares" rule.

Prefix:

Cruel = 300% Enhanced Damage
Fools = + (16.5 Per Character Level) 16.5-1633.5 To Attack Rating / + (0.5 Per Character Level) 0.5-49.5 To Maximum Damage (Based On Character Level)
Masters = +151-250 to Attack Rating, Damage: +101-150%

Suffix:

Self Repair = Repairs 1 Durability in 20 Seconds
Slaughter = +20 to Maximum Damage
Lamprey = +9% Life Stolen Per Hit

Ethereal doesn't use a prefix or suffix, and you can use a quest to get one socket, and Ber it for Crushing Blow

you can only get cruel/fool's or masters/cruel no masters/fool's they are from the same prefix group

Cruel
Master's/Fool's
Mechanic's (2 sockets)
of Fast Repair (1dur/20secs)
of Slaughter/Transcendence (+20 max/min)
of Quickness (if main hand) OR of Lamprey OR of Transcendence/Slaughter.

gogo 2 sockets for 2 Bers n junk.

Thanks for the responses. I know it's almost impossible to find a rare weapon that's better than the uber runewords these days. I'm just remembering back to my classic days. this weapon would have owned back then.
I always hope, though.

And what do you think the best weapons for a sword frenzier would be? I'm thinking a death in my main hand for the IAS and a breath of the dying in the off hand. I forget, does non-weapon IAS effect frenzy?

put BotD in your main hand, only your main hand IAS (and outside sources I am pretty sure) determines your frenzy speed

What affects Frenzy weapon speed...

1. Main hand only IAS (like BotD's 60%ias)
2. Off weapon IAS (like Hilords ammy)
3. Both main and off hand base weapon speeds (phase blades (-30), and colossal blades (+5) play a big part here)
4. Fanatacism Aura

Good thing about these rules is, for frenzy, you can equip a fast base weapon with no IAS in your off hand, and not receive any penalty.

I have an eth colossus sword, not blade, that I think would make a good death. They get five sockets from larzuk, so cheaper than trading for a 5os eth colossus blade.

If you found this sword on Classic D2, then good job, it's a beuty.

If you found this sword on D2 Expansion, sell it, it's terrible.
