ok, so I've made my first meteorb mf sorc quite a whille ago(she started on ladder a few years ago pre-1.11) and I loved it. Im hooked, and though I can/will play other characters, this still reigns supreme in my eyes.

Now since Ive been lucky enough to find the great board of diabloii, Ive found she wasnt all that she could be. Im in the midst of recreating her, and I want to ensure I dont make any of the mistakes I did before. A quick look at gear I plan to wear when I can afford it all:
helm-shako
ammy-mara's
armor-COH
Weap occy with cta on switch
shield-spirit(I know a LOT of people disagree with me on this, but it always worked so well, I love the FCR and +2)
belt-arachnid mesh
rings-2 soj(interchangble with nagel ring if unneccesary at the time)
boots-war travs
gloves-chancies

ok, so I've been researching the meteorb guide, butI still have questions.

First off, my old sorc was maxed in FO and in Cold mastery but obviously shy quite a few points in meteor. My orb was awesome(when there were no immunes) and I loved it -it is my preferred skill of choice. This led to my falling back on Fireball for immunes(sorry, I hate meteor, Im a horrible herder) Now I can see that I had some issues. reading the 3.0 guide by sasja, Ive learnd that Im an idiot for maxing cold mastery, oh well live, learn, its not too late. So this is what I'll be doing, please tell me if I on the right track
I want

10 CM
20 FM
20 FB
20 Meteor
1 SF
1 shiver armor
1 teleport
and of course all the wonerful prereqs to go with it
i believe this will be complete at level 90(I wonder if I can actually make it that far.
What i plan to do is meph, andy(I love andy-she's always been good to me), pindle, and pit runs.
I know I should be able to accomplish all this, last sorc was wearing the above gear and pulled it off just fine. so after all this dang preemptive BS, lets get onto the questions

1. will this work?? Have I made mistakes, am I screwed in my line of thinking anywhere??
2. Ive heard quite a bit about hell meteor being the way to go-do I really have to learn how to use this skill, or can I continue with my lazy orb/fireball backup??
3. I never used to go near baal/nihlathak(unless with a natures peace). I was always getting my war travs shoved in uncomfortable places. Should this build be able to do that? again, do I just have to master the art of meteor?
4 This ones a biggy. Since I am going so low on CM, my first thought on merc was to give him a Infinity-does that aura carry to me?? Ive heard that certain auras dont. I use, and plan to continue with a defiance merc-I just wonder what the best weapon for him is. infinity for conviction?? doom for holy freeze?? or just a dang botd so he can kick some arse??

I guess thats it, thanks for any and all help/criticism, I greatly appreciate it, and hope to get my character on a level its never before been on.
for the record, right now I'm wearing tal set, with a horrid set of mf rare boots(def-12 anyone) and chancies, I plan to move to war travs, shako, occy, and replace everything else as I can afford it-does this sound right??

1. Yes.

2. I usually use Orb and Ball with my Meteorb as well. Although I use Meteor for Baal groups 2+3 (spamming the Meteors in front of the throne from the death of group 1 until group 3 appears, then switching to Ball to finish off the council).

3. Baal is doable with a Meteorb, but it's slower than some other sorcs/hammerdins. Nihlathak has never been a problem for me with any character.

4. Infinity will not break the immunities of most of the cold immune monsters in Hell difficulty. It's really only useful for Lightning sorcs. I'd go for Doom.
