Blocking Question

Ok so I'm going to be making a poison necro using homunculus. It says that it has a 72% chance to block so I worked out what my dex needs to be at level 80 to achieve max block. I'm not positive I will do this but I am considering it. Anyways, here is my math

Total Block = [(Blocking * (Dex-15)/(Clvl * 2)]
75 = (72 * (Dex -15))/160
12000/72=Dex-15
Dex = 182

blah blah blah.

So my real question is.... Homunculus lists a Faster Block Rate of 30%... what does this mean? And how does it work? Does it affect anything above? Or is it a stupid useless D2 stat that doesn't mean anything?

It means exactly what is says it means: faster blocking. Without any faster blocking shield necro blocks at 11 frames (in that period you can't do anything else), with Homunculus he blocks at 8 frames. It doesn't affect your chance to block.

ok thanks. so it almost sounds more like a recovery time as the faster you can block in terms of frames, the faster you can get out of the block sequence and either block again, run, or attack
