I want to make a Light sorc for extreme mfing. I want to be able to run lvl 85 areas in 8 player games, baal in 8 player games, key run in 8 player games.
What is the ideal gear for this setup, maintaing a high MF 400+ should do the trick. I already have an Storch 19/20 and other items that may work for her. Pretty much looking for gear sugestions so I don't make any mistakes. If you have a sorc like this I'd love to know what you use!!

Infinity Merc = must have. The rest is pure speculation:
Griffon's
35 FCR spirit Monarch
Arachnid's Mesh
Magefist
Occulus (Ist)
Enigma
Wartrav's
2xSoJ
rare ammy (+2 skills, mf, resists, etc.)
Gheed's, MF and +skills charms.
... I think 400+MF is less important than ~250-300 and top kill speed.

You're right...Id make 275 my minimum w/o charms
I don't own an soj and don't plan on buying one either...I have a decent 10% fast cast ring and a 30% nagel though.

Okay I worked up a preliminary outline for gear....and some goals
Goal : 117 FCR, At Least 275 MF w/o charms
Hoto (Have)
+2 Sorc +19 Res All +20% Faster Cast Rare Circlet (Have)
Spirit Monarch (Have)
45% War Travs (Have)
10% Fast Cast Ring (Have)
30% Nagel (Have)
Arachnid (Have)
40% Chancies (Need)
+2 Sorc +Resist + MF Rare Amulet (Need)
Enigma (Have)
36% Gheeds (Have)
That comes out to 265 MF + w/e the rare amulet ends up being.
I did this really quickly, just looking for some critique on it. ~300 MF and 117FCR
EDIT: Its come to my attention that Shako + Magefist/Trangs would be much better in terms of MF, DR, Life, Mana...and I could UM the shako if necessary. So, unless I'm wrong its now ~350 MF and 117FCR

Man...now I'm questioning whether I should go with Tal Ammy/Armor/Belt instead of Nigma/Mara/Arachnid. Its a big mf gain...but...*sigh* i just dont know. Alright no more posts I'm talking to myself...I'll wait for responses.

Here is the setup I use when MFing with a sorc:
The Oculus (w/ Ist),
Shako (w/ Perfect Topaz),
Skullder's (w/ Perfect Topaz),
Spirit Monarch,
Goldwrap,
Chance Guards,
War Traveler,
Mara's (or a rare amulet with skills/res/MF),
Magic or Nagel Ring x2, and
Gheed's
This allows for about 145% to all resists, so you'll need charms to reach 75% in Hell, 14 to all skills (including an Anni and Torch, and not including any GCs) and enough FCR to reach the 63% breakpoint, all while mainaining about 500% MF.
You could also switch out the Goldwrap for an Arachnid's to reach the 72% breakpoint for Lightning, or even switch out the Oculus for a HOTO as well, to reach the 117% breakpoint, and still maintain over 400% MF.

Actually, forget that last part about the HOTO; I forgot about the FCR on Oculus.
Edit: That should be "... the 78% breakpoint for Lightning...". Either way, you still get there.

So, is the 117 mark necessary? I can reach it and have 400mf no problem with charms.

IMO, yes - the difference on teleporting alone is worth it.
From my experience (not knowledge - this is an 'educated guess'), there are a lot more monsters that attack at 9 frames than there are 8-or-lower, which means that at 78% FCR you're going to get a lot more successful attacks against you while teleporting to your MF-destination. I hate trying to pass a group of monsters only to get stuck in hit recovery for a period (throw in a little mana-burn... :grrrr:).
Besides, if you drop down to a slower speed, will you really gain much in MF and killspeed? Probably not.
An alternative to Skullder's Ire is to use Tal's Armour w/Perfect Topaz in it.
If you aren't a high enough level, Tal's Armour will come in with a higher MF score.
