I used a online skills calculator to go through and and put points in to skills to see the damage and by what level I would have my character "completed". Now going through if I make a full fire sorc (firebolt, fireball, meteor, fire mastery) all maxed with +10 skills, my meteor does almost 14k and my fireball does about 6k or something like that. Now when I do the same thing with cold spells (ice bolt, ice blast, glacial spike, blizzard, cold mastery) all maxed, excet for cold master I put 10 points in to that, my blizzard does about 4k and my ice blast does about 3k or something like that. Now I understand that fire mastery addes a % damage to my fire spells and cold mastery reduces the cold resistance for enemys. That being said, can cold mastery make an enemy's resistance go negative? Or does it zero out? Also that being said does the negative enemy resistance make up for the over 5k+ damamge that fire does over cold? Can someone break it down and show me the difference, maybe if there is already a spreadsheet made (I can't find one), that shows the damage to a 0 fire immune mob compaired to a 75% fire immune or 100% immune to fire mob. And the same with cold so I can see the damage difference. I am thinking about making a single element sorc and I either want to go blizzard/ice blast or meteor/fire ball. I am having trouble figuring out which would be best to go.
My overall goal would be to mf as well as be able to rush people and if need be pvp. I know a lot of people talk about blizzard being amazing for PvM, but how is it for pvp, with blizz being on a cool down and all.
*shrug* any input is greatly appriciated. Thank you.

good in pubs, bad in 1v1 if they stack, and ugly vs ES fire sorcs.

Thank you for the response, but your response lacks detail and I have no idea what you're talking about.
resists can go negative, down to -100%. So it is possible for you to be douing double the listed damage

Are there any main differences between going fire or cold?
I know that cold can break immunes and lower resistances but fire does more damage. But I guess it comes down to, if something is immune and you can't break it, you're going to do no damage.
If someone has 75% fire resistance, making a full fire sorc, fireball would still do 3.5k damage a hit, without factoring in the pvp damage cut. And going cold, I would never really have to worry about resistances because with + skills i'll break 110% cold resistance. So it would equal out to right aroudn the same amount.
I'm guessing: PvM = cold, PvP = Fire
pros cons of both builds? I'm at a loss :-(

The best you can do is trying them both fire and cold.

No reason to go all cold or all fire. You can use Fireball or Meteor full synergized with frozen orb...
I do 11k fireball w/ my sorc and like 26k meteor....and have 350 mf.
I think the frozen orb is 550 per shard or something....with lvl 18 cold mastery

How do you have such high fireball and meteor damage with level 18 cold mastery? and maxed frozen orb (is it maxed?)
What is your gear / skill points?

only have 1 point in cold mastery
HOTO
Spirit
Shako
Enigma
Mara
Arachnid
Magefist
SOJ
Anni
Torch
1 pt cold mastery
20 pt frozen orb
11 fire bolt
20 fire ball
20 meteor
20 fire mastery
If I were to make it to lvl 99 I could max fire bolt for even more dmg. Oh and meteor is ~24k

Actually fire immune is easier to break compared to cold immune, since cold mastery won't kick in until immunity is broken, i.e. doom knight with 180+ cold resist.
