View Full Version : Best of Both Worlds: Crescent Moon + 117 FCR Builds
My goals for my HC light sorc are:
25K+ damage with Crescent Moon BEFORE -RESIST
117% FCR
Here's what I'm thinking:
Griffons with 5/4 Facet
CoH Wyrmhide
Crescent Moon Axe
35% FCR Spirit
Arach
Resist Boots w/10% FHR
Magefists
2xSoJ
Crafted +2 Sorc or +2 Light/17%FCR/10% Prismatic
Light GCS (5 - 7)
This would give me over 25K damage, 117 FCR, 8frame FHR (>60).
My skills would be 20 telekinesis (HC), rest Lightning + synergies.
I find this is pretty much the perfect build. It takes the best from both sides of the Crescent Moon argument threads. Of course it's all dependent upon a great crafted Sorc ammy, and I'm currently getting supplies to start crafting...I'll let you know.

I think I like your setup better, but you might also consider a variation of a max-block approach I tried recently... you would loose some FHR and +4 skills overall, but perhaps you'll think that's worth max-block for HC.
- Drop CoH, 1xSoJ & Spirit,
- add Vipermagi, 'Sanctuary', and 1x rare FCR ring
Note: my Vipermagi has a base 35 resist all and is socketed with a 15% resist all jewel / Sanctuary tower shield with 68% resist all.
As a bonus, you could get a slightly lower FCR roll on your ammy and still reach the 117 breakpoint. It would definitely suck if you finally manage to craft a decent +skills ammy with an FCR mod, but the inherent FCR roll is only 5 or 6%. Speaking of which, good luck with crafting - in my experience you're going to need it.
BTW, will you have an Infinity merc? If yes, I'm not convinced the CM+Griffon's is necessary (admittedly, I haven't followed the recent discussion - it seemed like it was degenerating into flame-baiting and chest-beating when I gave up on it... maybe I'll relook over that one since it's slowed down a little). Yes it'll be great against broken immunities, but will it really help your damage otherwise? (i.e. 'otherwise' being the other ~70% of monsters that aren't lightning immune).

I will have infinity. I agree for most of the game, you don't need CM + Griffon's with Infinity. However, 99% of my playing time seems to be around CS/WSK/Throne, all of which almost always have immunes, often times filling the entire levels. In addition, these areas have mobs with 40%+ LR, meaning you will get the full 35% more lightning damage than non-CM builds.
Because I will use 20 in telekinesis, my damage suffers. I want to break 25K, and that means getting at least +20 skills. Hopefully, between the 117FCR and either 7 or 8 FHR with ES, I'll be OK.
