Narrowly escaped with your life? Looked death in the face and laughed? Eaten an entire box of Krispy Kremes and a half gallon of chocolate milk then gone for a swim?
Tell us about your most memorable NDEs (near-death experiences)! Have you lived through Undead Flayer popcorn? Absorbed a NM FE you didn't think you should have? Taken on the Ancients with a cracked long sword and a prayer?
Don't forget to embellish!
Use to do like hundreds a day doing CS runs on a Martel WW Barb in Classic 1.09. Not sure it fits the topic as its more of chosen insanity and many people did it.
Ill add more just dont have time to type that much ATM.

My buddy and I were wandering through Act 2, around lvl 18ish, we had just fought some electric beetles and were taking a quick break so that his anti-poison aura could get us back to normal life. Without thinking, my friend walks over to a nearby fire shrine and sets it off.
We were both so close to 'a fiery death' I almost pooped myself.
Going AFK in Baal throne, coming back to check and Sorc had 200HP left. =D

Did you blink? :jig:
Sorcies are generally to frail for my tastes. :wink2:
Having Occy is excitement enough on every game.
con: Having it tele you into a humongous pack of lefece conviction, might and immune to god itself
pro: That one lucky tppk attempt where it saves you from multiple ib's by moving you away
I think all the classes should have an item so blessed with random teleport ctc's. I think this would be great on a unique boot :)

Competing in a 100% Dex Amazon tournament with the SP Forum.
Ran into a pack of Fenzytar type things in Act 5 NM (Untwinked (read: bad resists), with base life). The pack was Extra fast, LE, supa-leet-playa-killa type of mods. Decoy went poof, Merc went splat, Valk went poof, I went poo, and ran for my life. There was lightning every bloody where. I actually still have no idea how I got out of that alive, but I never went back to check, he was just parked after that.
Come to think of it, that Dex a Zon is still alive to this day, I should get around to finishing or killing her one day.

2 come immediately to mind:
91 orb/tk sorc season 3 with 3k life after outside bo 75% block 45% dr and 5 digit armour... was slowly clearing succys around lilith for my smiter... turned a corner, and POW enough life lost in the blink of an eye to make me juv, flux, and cross my fingers at the loading screen. Mana burn + built in amp + extra strong + might + I forget what else in a triple boss pack of succies is dangerous >.>
93-96 trapper in season 1 with 2k hp no bo, 50% dr, 50% WB... was helping a friend with the anya quest, turned a corner, extra fast lancers, which are already stupidly fast, with amp and might are on top of me almost instantly, and almost instantly I'm fluxing.
Those Lancers are indeed ugly fast, I have had a few close calls with them this season on my trapper in a number of areas but mostly trying to go fast to the Pits. Even though those ones arent high lvl like near Anya they still put a whoopin on ya without block and my current Sin has no block.
Most of my biggest scares come from MSLE's back in 1.09. There are so many and so long ago they are hard to recall and since its no longer an issue I wont bother.
Recently (month agoish) I was running to Meph and was MB/Cloaking my way thru Dolls and Maulers. Well, I had a couple blanks from the MBs and I ended up with IIRC (3) packs of dolls on me which isnt scary unless they start dieing. My Merc comes to save the day popin dolls like ballons and me Juvin on each ones death. I was completely surrounded and I just knew if I tried S&E the Merc wouldnt stop so I would die so I just started MBin and Juvin and trying to move until I finally got free. Cost me like 9-12 juvs (cant recall if it was my old 12 or new 16 slot belt but I only had one row left). Between thier damage and their deaths I was near death every time one poped.
Back in S1 1.10 my 3rd trip on 3rd character Skellymancer with a buddy on his Warrior ran into those Pit Vipers. Warrior died so fast it wasnt funny and I nearly died myself. I eventually looted him but I didnt have Dim Vision so it was a bit harry and I dont use buffed Golems I stick to (1) pointers. Had to TP out to get more skellys soo much my buddy ate dinner and cleaned his room while I worked at looting him. I had done Pindle solo on my trapper and Barb and wasnt even aware of the Vipers and their death potential. It was a few days later they became a topic on the board and I learned what was up.
Buddy died in a MF game, we tend to group up in the same game and hit different areas solo then gather and do Baal. He was doing Pindle on a Windy at around lvl 83, he just got past Ancients the previous game with my IK Barbs help. I was on my 83 Sorc who was geared fine but poor charms "walkaporting" Meph. Well he died and not only did he die, but he tried to do a fast Pindle and skip the respawns out front so when he died his corpse was surrounded and not a single other person was online. So with no life boost here I am teleporting in and looting 1-2 pcs at a time. Had to go in like 6-7 times. I had max Block and good FHR and FCR but still those Chargers can easily thump hard and KB you to set you up for another if you make a mistake. It cost me all my belted Juvs and I would of had to quit if I didnt have some saved in stash but I got all his gear.

A couple spring to mind for me:
Playing my FC bear I charged into a pack of cursed might enchanted yeti's & hit right-click which was shock wave.
Or at least it was supposed to be.
Instead it was werebear so I morphed back into human form. Took one hit - 25% life left, juved, took another couple of hits, juved again and morphed back into bear form. Took several more hits and juved again.
Recovered and spammed shockwave everywhere and was eventually able to slap my way out.
My tesladin was in one of the frozen tunnel areas in act 5 NM and was surrounded by abominables with blood witches firing their red balls of death from offscreen. I was clicking randomly hitting targets when I clicked a hidden evil urn and spawned a fanaticism enchanted pack of blood witches.
Still not sure how I managed to walk out of that one...

A2 Hell solo Fishy. On my way from the Outer Cloister to the Pits. A bunch of Lancer types ran up to the skelly line and the skirmish began as usual (yawn). Then another group ran up and joined the fray (yawn again). Then another (ok, time to pay attention). I had my eye closely on the FE/LE Boss from the fiirst pack, who was just about to die, so I moved away from her and got closer to my merc. Unfortunately, I missed the fact that he was jabbing at a FE/CE that I had missed when scanning over all the monster in the fight looking for dangerous ones. When the merc killed it and it popped, my life went from 1200+ down to <100. (Those numbers don't look too bad by themselves, but visually, my life went down by ~95%.) The one good thing about it was that there was nothing that could get at me for what would have been a one-hit kill at that point, because it took a while for the blood to get back up to my brain so I could function again.
[Maybe not as exciting as the other stories about having to Juve whole belts to get out. But it sure scared the **** out of me.]
Just remembered one......
Lvl 95 Sin Trapper (relatively crap gear) in S1 1.10 doing Baal runs, we were walking and the whole group was younglings and no BO for the group just Oak. They were all scared to take the stairs so I was doing it with MB/Cloak ready. Well this Skellymancer after a while got brave and started hitting the stairs with me or before me. Well, that "one time" hit, the one that makes you wish you did things differently, I hit the door and there were Dolls and he came right after me......pop pop pop AHHHHHHHH!!! Necro dead and I am juvin and it took the whole belt to survive. This was the Throne Room BTW.
Reason I have full or near full belt situations is I refuse to flux aka S&E when I am in trouble if I have a chance to work my way out of it. Obvious lag and things like that where I cant do anything is a different story. I always try and get out of the immediate danger and TP to town, TPing and hitting it is faster than S&E most of the time.

Ah... one time in S3, Jugz was on his baba trying to convince some zon to duel him.
I was on my 87 trapper, trying to do damage to Jugz so that the zon would think he had a chance.
Right when Jugz got low, he ran too close to me, my merc spotted him, and started swinging away. I had an A5 merc with lawbringer. Between stun+decrep Jugz found himself standing in the middle of my 5 weakish 1-8k traps for a fair bit longer than I'm sure he'd have prefered >.>
Almost got an ear >.>
i dont s/e alt + f4 ftw
Just FYI:
Alt & F4 isn't any faster.

alt f4 is a 2 button macro
save aqnd exit includes hitting the esc buton then moving the mouse to hit esc or using the keyboard to do so i can alt f4 way faster then s/e
Alt + f4 leaves you in the game for longer.
You can't see yourself die, but that doesn't mean anything. At leas those are the statistics that someone checked out.
I know when I flux on one copy, my others don't see it immediately it's a second till the game catches up, and I've definitely seen leech chars of mine die during that time
:::Anyway:::
My most memorable NDE would probably be when I was questing my Kicker in hell and left Jason's BO Barb out of town after BOing without thinking about it.
Might quill rat wanders by, get clipped by the Rogue Mercs I'm so fond of giving to merc-less chars and smites the Barb to below 1/4. Luckily, I had just gone to town for potions and was able to switch copies immediately and get a juve off on the barb and then weap switch and race him the 5 feet to safety in town.
My own NDE's don't scare me nearly as much as almost offing a friend's character.
Cheers

Running some free nightmare Baals on my new hammerdin (with my own leech character in the corner, three other people in game). I get to act 3 wave and instantly my life drops to 10%. I just had enough time to juv before I see what the **** hit me. Apparently Bartuc was enchanted with fire and lightning, and one of his bolts hit me. I've heard of that bug before, but that was the first time it happened. It was so scary because I almost lost an enigma (this was around early September). If I didn't have a cta, I would have been a goner for sure..
