View Full Version : My rune word failed?
Ok - I wanted the rune word - Stealth, and it requires the runes Tal and Eth.
I had a Mechanics Gothic Plate, 2 sockets... placed both runes inside - and all i got was taleth... -.-
whats going on...

Runewords only work in nonmagical items (they may be ethereal or superior). Your armor is magical.
sigh...
so it has to be a plain white name item? =[ thanks.
item's name will be either white or gray
item's name will be either white or gray
what do you mean white or gray, if it's white it has no sockets to put the runes in.
white = normal/superior/cracked ect..
gray = eth/socketed
white items can be socketed witht the cube (will get a random number of sockets) or larz (will give set number of sockets (http://www.diabloii.net/items/sockets-list.shtml) depending on the items ilvl)
iirc, the superior items are gray too,
i know about the cube recipe but when you socket them the color changes.

toprak: Superior items CAN be gray if they have sockets or are eth. However, if they do not have sockets and are not eth then their names will appear white. Basically, non eth items without sockets that are not magical/rare/set/unique items will show as white. Items that are eth, socketed, or eth socketed, and are not magical/rare/set/unique items will show up as gray.
MyDireLife: I don't know how much you know about magic items, so forgive me if this is info you already know. Magic items have prefixes and suffices. For example, and Sturdy Gothic Plate of the Squid has the prefix of Sturdy (which gives an extra % defense) and a suffix of Squid (which gives extra life). Some prefixes give an item a certain number of sockets. You had a magical prefix that gave the item sockets. This prefix is actually incredibly important to some builds, as the only way to get more than 2 sockets on a magical item is by having a prefix that grants more than 2 sockets.
