View Full Version : How much +skills avg in completed build?
There are various builds using, or dreaming of getting and using, various equipment, so I'm sure there will be some differences between builds and players. But I am curious, for popular builds or whatever unique builds you guys have made for yourselves, how much in the way of +all skills and/or +particular skills have you guys found yourselves winding up with and using once your build is complete, including stuff you just have on switch or pop in just to summon or use some effect/spell?
I'm interested in all answers, but as a newbie non-twink myself, I am especially curious as to your experience/what you think when it comes to what amount of +skills a newbie non-twink might reasonably expect to wind up with once he completes his build. And again maybe when he does some magic finding for a while without being a real expert at it yet or putting in massive hours doing it. In other words, for us amateur/non-godly blokes.
Another related question: How much of it do you keep in your stash or barely touch while you're actually really just playing while wearing all your magic-finding gear anyway? And does how much magic-find gear you intend to wear, or how much +skills you have, influence where you are putting your hard skill points at all?
Thanks for any feedback!
+20 is good, +30 is about as good as it gets without sacraficing survivability
for untwinked, you probably wont get much more then +10 if you are lucky. this is enough to complete the game but you wont be a power build
Thanks kykle. +20 sounds pretty breathtaking, but something like that is a cool goal to shoot for.

I'd shoot for the following:
Helm: +2
You can easily get +1 from "Lore" runeword, but keep gambling circlets and you should be able to find either a +2 all or a +2 summoning circlet without too much trouble. If you're lucky you'll get +3 summoning. Don't remember what level you need to be before you have a chance of getting +2 necro skills but I'm sure someone knows it.
Armour: +1
Skin of the Vipermagi isn't usually too hard to come across. Silks drops every now & then too. Hit up NM Meph and you should find one or the other of these before too long.
Wand: +2
Different options here: Either look for a +2 to all necro skills wand from mid/late NM onward or head back to normal & shop Akara until you get a +2/+3RS wand. If it has + SM then even better. Hint: Make a portal to the cow level next to her & use that to travel back & forth (it's way faster)
Shield: +1
You can find much better if you get lucky & find a decent necro head, but you should be able to find something with +1 without too much trouble. Sigons (if you can do the 75 str req) and Lidless Wall are pretty easy to come by, esp if you visit NM meph a couple of times.
Jewelry: +1
You're probably not going to get any from rings, so gamble those amulets until you come across something that gives + to necro skills. +1 should be pretty easy to come across, +2 is possible later on, and +3 summoning is also possible if you get lucky.
Belt/Boots/Gloves: 0
Use these slots to boost your MF
Charms: 0
Probably not going to happen, but save all your gems & cube them into perfects then save a grand charm from mid/late NM and re-roll it using the 3 x pgem recipe until you get +skills. What else are you saving those gems for anyway?
So in total I'd say your looking at +7 to all easily attainable, and if you get lucky with more than +1 to summoning on your amulet & helm you're looking more like +10 to all.
Thanks for the specifics, tigercan. As soon as I get to a later Act in Nightmare, I'm going to try to gamble up a +skills charm, like you suggest. I'm getting some really weird and lame ones, at least lame to me anway, like +4 dexterity.
You mention magic find belts. I can't recalll ever seeing a MF belt, only gold find, though I check Charsi/other vendors for belts a lot. Right now I'm in Act 1 of Nightmare. (I'm so high for there because I have been playing /p8 since about level 15.) Are they unusual drops, or from a higher level?

Goldwrap is a unique belt that has a decent chunk of MF.
If you don't come across one, no biggie - use that slot to make up whatever resists you may be lacking
