View Full Version : Making a pure fire auradin

I'm currently planning to make a fire auradin, also known as the torchadin. This build uses dual Dragons along with Hand Of Justice to achieve a level 44 holy fire. I plan to use this for mainly pvp. This is what I've planned so far:

Skills:

20 conviction
If this was a pvm build, then it would obviously not be necessary to max this, since max -res/-def comes at level 25. But, since this is mainly for pvp, maxing this would be a good idea, since the higher level conviction negates a lower one.

20 resist fire
This works as a synergy for holy fire. Not much else to be said here.

20 holy shield
Lots of defense is always good in pvp. Pretty much speaks for itself.

20 charge
Charge is an important part of this build's pvp strategy. Obviously, this build can't use enigma, so charge is used for getting around the map, as well as delivering damage and finishing off opponents.

Any suggestions on what to dump remaining skill points in?

Stats

Strength: Enough for gear
Dexterity: Enough for gear, or enough for max block? Advice please.
Vitality: Everything else.
Energy: Base.

Gear

This is the part where I don't really have much clue besides the obvious. Advice please.

Weapon: 'Hand Of Justice' Berserker Axe
Shield: 'Dragon' Zakarum Shield (or would a different base shield be better?)
Armor: 'Dragon' Archon Plate (or would a different base armor be better?)
Helm: Kira's Guradian perhaps? Resists aren't going to be the greatest
Gloves: Lava Gout
Boots: Sandstorm Trek? Don't have a clue really
Belt: Arachnid Mesh
Rings & Amulet: Suggestions please.

Comments?

Another build that has become popular is put points into foh and holy shock instead of maxing charge, and making a hoj in a 4os scepter with +3foh. It pisses many pubs off as it is combining two of the most hated characters into one. It works quite well also. And I always go max block on a paly.

My pally looks like this:
girffons
mara's
hoj war scepter +3 foh
dragon mp
Dragon ST +45 all res
bk rings
arach
torch/anni/p combats
and I can't remeber what he has for boots/gloves as I haven't really touched him since the lad reset.

I agree with Arutha.

For pub dueling this character is one of the hardest to negate due to high light and high fire damage combined with Conviction. Most pub players will not have the necessary gear to negate both types of damage.

I believe this build is called a DayDreamer is it not?

I might try out the daydreamer after this one. Seeing as i will go with the pure fire route, witch charms should i carry in the inventory?

Offensive Aura GCs are a popular choice, to either raise your conv level higher than other conviction using builds. (the higher level conviction overrides the lower level, so if your enemy has lvl 29conviction and you have lvl 32conviction his aura will not work on you, iirc).

20 life scs are also a good choice as we all know, or you can get some physical damage in there with max damage gcs or scs.

Resist GCs and SCs are viable aswell and can be combined on the same GC or SC as the 20 life.

Any tips for duelling strategies?

My paladin is coming together quite nicely now, gear-wise. Going to remake him though, due to putting waaay too much in strength. He's only 82 atm, so it isn't that bad to remake. When i have rebuilt, it will look something like this:

Stats:
Strength: 50 (with gear this will be around 170 - 180)
Dexterity: 100
Vitality: rest
Energy: base

Skills:
20 holy fire
20 conviction
20 holy shield
20 charge

Gear:
Weapon 'Hand Of Justice' berserker axe
Armor: 'Dragon' archon plate
Shield: 'Dragon' zakarum shield 45@
Helm: Crown Of Ages, socketed 2x 5/5 fire facet (should i socket with something else?)
Belt: Verdungo's Hearty Cord
Gloves: Bloodfist
Boots: Sandstorm Trek
Amulet: Metalgrid
Rings: Raven/Wisp/BK (whatever fits the situation really)
Inventory: Annihilus, Torch, Offensive skillers, sc's with life/resists or other juicy mods (suggestions on sc's please)

Opinions?

Do you mind if I ask what your damage numbers are like both physical and elemental?

I haven't maxed charge yet (lvl 13 now i think), so i'm looking at about 5k damage all together. Pulse damage is around 500 i think.

OK, I've now come to the point where I have maxed holy fire, conviction, holy shield and charge. Where should i put the rest of my skillpoints? Might to synergize charge?

maxing holy fire was usless... you max resist fire instead, as it synergizes with the aura on items
and if you meant resist fire, go you, go for salvation next

Tvk

Of course, i mean't to write resist fire :duh:

So it would be better to continue synergizing holy fire with salvation than synergizing charge?

well your melee damage sucks anyways... maxed charge is for AR, and as an auradin, you try to kill by pulses anyways, as a missed charge=you dieing.

I'll just dump the rest in salvation then.

i know a level 30 holy fire fully synergized on a dual dream auradin does about 700 damage, so level 44 is about 1k max? just throwing some numbers at ya

I was testing this on a skill planner, and with 44 holy fire and 20 resist fire, i got this:

Fire Damage: 2553-2608 to your attack
Fire Damage: 425.5-434.6

Adding 20 salvation i got this:

Fire Damage: 3219-3288 to your attack
Fire Damage: 536.5-548

Is this wrong?

don't waste points into HF if that is going to be your set up. It will just be cancelled out by the HF from your gear. All of the gear will add up to get you somewhere in the mid-40's holy fire and so any points you place directly into the skill will not stack with that.

edit - I see this was already said. it didnt show page 2 when i was first looking

Yes, i do know that. A little typing mistake, that's all.

nevermind, its around 500 damage... and i found a neat trick, if you activate holy fire while using dragon, the hf aura dissapears
edit: nevermind, it only dissapears until aura switch...
