View Full Version : What wep 4 nm Act2 Merc?
Looking to get the weapon that compliments this merc the most, i.e. works in conjunction with his Holy Freeze aura & kills physical immunes. Cost is not an issue here, looking for suggestions on nice eth RW poles.
Current build:
Nightmare Act 2 Holy Freeze Merc
Lvl 89
Upped VGaze 8% ll/20% dr
AP Fortitude
CA Obedience
Also, with this build, what should I socket helm with?
Hi,
It's your turn for question about A2 merc :) BTW, what is the merc for? Hammerdin, zealer, simter ......?
Chien
Zealer/1 pt smiter (don't need him in trist though)
Too kill the physical immune, eth Reaper's toll might be a good idea since it case Decryp for you and further slow down baddies (HF aura+ Decryp).
BTW, anyone tried Rift in eth elite polearm? lvl21 orb and lots of magic damage (plus some fire damage).

I know I said I didn't need him in Trist, but on Baal runs I take him along and wouldn't want the decrep overiding my life tap... would it do that?
Ah dont sweat it dude, decrepify is an excellent curse, in fact its usually better than life tap. Increases your killing speed instead of just giving a safety boost though the need for even a safety boost seems doubtful if youre using dupewords. Id just switch the draculs for some laying of hands for extra kill speed
Ok I don't get this... I just said any rune word out there, in an elite eth pole... and still eth reaper comes up? Is it really that good, or do we just have a bunch of fan boys here? .... seriously, you'd take that over an Infinity eth CA, or Pride, BotD, etc etc?
Since you mentioned that you want to have the merc to help killing physical immune, that is why :) Infinity is great for casters. Others (Pride, BotD) are good but they won't break any physical immune for you assuming that your zealot/smiter is already pretty good at non-physical immune. Again, I did mention RIFT in elite eth polearm due to its big elemental damages :)

Hrmm. I remember sub running with a Nec buddy of mine and when he cursed the PI's, it removed their PI status.... does the decrep from Reaper's Toll do the same thing? Just looking for some clarification of how it helps kill PI's. Thnx.
I think the best merc can do is decryp (unless you use amp items yourself, like Atma Ammy). Decryp will break the physical immune <112.5% (1/5 effectiveness when resist>100%) and Amp will break <125%. It would depend on which PI you are dealing with. Otherwise, lots of elemental damages will help, too.

I second the Eth reapers to help kill physical immunes. The Decrp it offers breaks most of them, and while may override life tap, if you built your build to rely on tap, IMO you did something wrong.
Otherwise if not, I'd say Pride. The Conc aura will boost your damage up, but yet wont help you kill PI's faster, however, since most PI's are undead, consider getting Sanctuary to break it, and then the Conc will still increase your damage enough to whack em dead.
Oh and I'd get a might Merc. If you really want HF, put a Doom on him. Otherwise, I'd take the more damage over the slow. Best option IMO would be a Might Merc with a Eth Reapers Sheal'd.

reaper's toll for decrep. Removes PI. Might also think about switching to a mite merc?
Wait though, I guess I was thinking of player items that over-ride life tap.... would a merc's decrep actually do that? It might not... wouldn't it just be like another player casting decrep? That never over rides someone else's LT.... what you think?
yes, it will. When the decrep from the merc is up, it will overwrite your LT.

Reapers Toll, eth if you can get it, is the best weapon for a Zealot merc.
Unless, that is, you have another way of casting decrep or Amp, such as a Lawbringer or Atma's.
