View Full Version : Best partner build for Blessed Hammer?

So, my partner is deciding on a Thaaretic for a secondary build, just for specific purposes and to grab gear his Necro can't when in a nightmare/hell game. I have several other Paladins and Barbarians in or on their way to nightmare, already, as well as a pure fire Sorc. Though I was planning on riding a pure lightning version after I get my Conczerker to CLvl42 or so, I figure this would be better.

What skills, out of everything that's out there, compliment someone hurling thousands of damage, which only one type of monster is immune to, in circles, and can help in those hard-to-reach places hammers can't?

a strafe or multizon will benefit greatly from your aura, as will a barbarian

maybe a telezerk barb for the ultimate magic damage team

barby, doubles or triples your defense/hp as well as gains massive dmg from your aura.

or a little more fun would be a werewolf druid with massive fury dmg and a oak.

A Taunt Barb with Frenzy/DoubleSwing of course....

A lightning sorc IMO.

Summon Necromancer.

Adds alot of support and distracts other enemies so you can get good positioning and drop those hammers. Having that many meatshields is definately a good thing.

strafezon i think. maybe with LF backup. but definietly she'll be wanting to bring out a buff Valk

Hammerdin is kind of a tank anyway, so don't have a huge need for a strong tank to go with it. Strafe can get monsters in corners or whatever, physical damage gets boosted from conc aura

One of your mercs should be holy freeze, the other one either defiance, prayer/insight, might, or cold rogue

He has an affinity for summonmancers, but leads his brigade all over the place, preferring Trang-Oul's to minion gear. Three seasons straight I've led off with a Thaaretic and he a summonmancer, and the opportunity to reverse the roles would be nice, but we now have two votes for a Strafe Amazon.

I should think Multishot Zons, using knockback as a preference, would be irritating to those using Blessed Hammer, and the conczerker I'm working on now would be just as vunerable to Wailing Beasts (yeah, I know, but it's a point). I'm already have a Frenzy/Double Swing/Throw axe user waiting for gear at CLvl53, so that may not be an option until later. As for lightning Sorcs, it seems to me dual Dreams and an Infinity makes them completely self-reliant, and not really a partner.

Anyone else?

I agree with Bassman; a summoner is great together with a Hammerdin. You'll have lots of tanks and the skellies will benefit from the Conc aura.

I'd run with a strafer. Insanely safe crowd control with "Slows target by" equipment (Riphook 30 + Blackhorn 20 + Cleglaws 20 + Nosferatu 10 = Slows target by 80% ), source of cold damage (Ravenfrost), strafe autoaim, and nigh-indestructible Valkyrie.

Hugely complemented by concentration aura, excels where hammerdins fail (maggot lair), makes ancients a cakewalk (slow) by allowing Extra fast FE/CE/LE combomods to be killed safely (slow) from afar (strafe).

Atma's Scarab makes things several different kinds of groovy. Mighty Insight Iron Wolves or Witchwild/Riphook/Blackhorn Rogues make for great company.

Random off-top-of-head setup
Blackhorn / FRW/res Circlet
Riphook / Witchwild
Treachery armor
Cleglaw's gloves <-- don't like knockback? Fine. Ditch these, put on Lava Gout or Hellmouth.
Nosferatu's coil
Atma's scarab
Ravenfrost
LL/ML ring (not really needed with the Paladin's Prayer Insight merc)
Random FRW boots

Another Hammerdin... but that would be boring.
