I like to stick with GA. Just my personnel preference. It meets my needs. I am sure someone else may have other suggestions.

Fortitude. Damage is king.

For zeal vs. zeal I like either cham'd levi, or eth up'd shaft

I've got a perfect Fort in an Archon armor. +300% damage, +30 resists, +1.5% life per lvl, it's sick. People like CoH for higher resists, but I think Fort works better for a zealot.

For pvp I mostly use eth upgraded Shaft and Forti (I can use one in a sacred armor),coh won't cut it. For pvm coh is quite nice but I prefer forti still.

"Damage is king" is a glass cannon approach in my book, unless you have all your resists maxed already. You can have all the dmg you want, it's not gonna help if you're dead.... personally I'd go with CoH, unless you have another way to make up that +65 all res. The +2 skills also ups your dmg, speed & def. With holy shield (especially if you're exiled) you have all the def you need, so dont wear Fort for def. With Fort you might kill a little faster, but personally I'd rather have higher resists and finish bosses 5 seconds slower.

If you have the dough, try out both. Do Trav, Nili, Meph, Baal alternating armors and see what works best for you. I have CoH on my zealer/1pt smiter, and Fort on my merc. I wore Fort for a while, going back and forth, but kept coming back to CoH in the end.

@ PailAil: Fortitude gives 20-30 res all and +5 to max light res which is pretty good thing IMO (gloams anyone?).

Fortitude > Duress > Guardian Angel

Actually one of the few cases the price difference is more or less worth it in my opinion (i.e. use whichever you can afford).

Gears: Is this for PvM or PvP?

For PvM, and in rare cases even PvP an Eth glitched Prudence can be another oft overlooked option. It can get over 3K defense and gives nice resists, FHR, MDR, and a little PDR too. It's fantastic for sprinting through maps while almost never getting hit. Pair it with an Eth glitched Exile to give monsters only a single digit chance to hit you or pair it with a Stormshield to laugh off physical attacks. Blocking is almost optional. I used one last ladder for nearly all my 1pt Smiter's D key, mini-Uber, and Uber runs.

I started off using a superior Fortitude, but got tired of the repair costs (and my Bowazon needed it) so I switched as an experiment. Grief is so overpowered that my kill speed was basically the same, but my survivability (despite my reckless play style) was better.

If this is zeal vs zeal. I'd recommend chamed levi, eth upped shaft, or fort.

Never considered this before. Obviously twice the def if glitched, but does it still degrade like norm eth items?

Ok, so best case your got 35 res to make up still. @+5 max light res, I'd rather keep my +2 skills and wear Tgods w/ +10 max light res.

Played with zealer for a long time, tried out a lot of armors but i eventually just sticked with Enigma. (note i only played this one PVM, and tele is just so lazy)

But on PVP im sure that Fortitude is one of the best armors out there.

Its a shame Phoenix shield has such a lame block, otherwise it would be awesome. I recommend Exile Sacred Targe or since u are not really in desperate need of skills, a stormshield would improve the survivability.

But i think its for a PVP zealer vs zealer very important to have as much def as possible..

Eth glitched Exile, Eth glitched Duress, COA 2sox, metalgrid/raven/rare ring or simply angelic combo would be sweet

What other gear do you plan on useing? Also is this for melee duels only or will you be taking on other builds as well?

Prudence is definitely the best armor in my opinion, unless you want to use items attained by hacking/cheating.. which is unfortunately necessary for competitive PVP :undecided:

Ok well since your not melee only and since you will have dr from berber coa and dungos then you probably won't need the levi and would benefit more from armor with +res. I don't know about tyrael's cus I have never found one :disappointed:, I would just try them all out since they all have their +'s. One of the things I like most about zealot's is there are so many different options on their gear. Also don't overlook hlord's as an ammy just cus it's not "godly" like slipper, I love ds on zealots.

Never considered this before. Obviously twice the def if glitched, but does it still degrade like norm eth items?

It has self repair, so no worries about degrading...and technically it has 2.25 times normal defense (1.5 x 1.5). Thus a perfect non-sup Eth AP = 524 x 2.25 = 1179 then add 170% for a perfect defense mod from Prudence and you get 3183 defense!!!
