View Full Version : Off Topic: What are your top 3 biggest gripes...
...with assassins.
This isn't a "OMG BLIZZ FIX THIS" or mean-spirited rant -- I'm smiling as I'm typing this, and wondering what are those little things which, when you discovered them, made you think "bleh!" as you were building or designing an assassin.
Here are mine:
1. Damage from Grief doesn't transfer to kicks. (God forbid a pure melee sin should stand a chance versus the poor, underpowered pallis.)
2. Facets don't work with traps.
3. Pretty bad FCR breakpoints, not as bad as amazons, but still.
4. (I had to add one more): Lack of claw runewords that add + skills.
What are yours?

people that complain about sins instead of working through their "problems" to find one of the most versatile character classes.

the fact it needs 46% ias to hit 7/3 kicks with a -30 wep bugs me. 45% is so much easier to find....

2. Facets don't work with traps.
It works with Shock Web and Fire Blast. GOGOGO Bombers and Trappers.

Hmm... I dislike things...
Travel expenses...
The lack of a work visa...
Losing in poker...
Peanut Butter...
Hey, you said off-topic!
Edit: Whoops... you also said three.

I'm kind of glad that facets dont work with traps, as it is traps are strong enough. We dont want 21k trap sins running around ;P.
My only real complaint is how useless dragon flight is. Stupid thing is slow, buggy, doesnt do that much damage, and you cant summon shadows directly afterwards.
That repairing the chaos and fury claws are so expensive that you really don't want to ww things much in pvm.
That dragon claw doesn't double the release of charges.
That cloak of shadows doesn't have a component working like infravision from d1, still the skill owns anyway of course.
claws got pretty screwed over wrt pvm RWs compared to other classes. A 3 sox RW with 'indestructible' is needed to balance things out a bit, though I'm thinking no +skills (maybe a +frenzy though? :cloud9: ). I don't really agree with any of the OP complaints, I prefer it that way (grief shouldn't transfer to smite damage either though -.-)
Personnaly I think the fire traps could use a little boost. Besides FB they remain very much unused (well, there is the 1 point WoF for PvP). I don't think I have ever seen a fire trapper on battlenet.

Agreed. That damned skill should be much faster or at least uninteruptible.

* lack of decent unique claws for trappers.
* cant use BOS and fade at the same time
* Not as sexy as a zon
1. The fact that you can't sorb venom.

Fire traps suck out loud once you hit nightmare.

+max poison res? poison length reduction?

You seem to make do with sorbing lightning :)
And yeah, +max res and poison length reduction basically does the same thing if you get enough of it.

I think the biggest problem is the small amount of players that can join 1 game...
I mean..it should at least be 20 people..

sorbing lightning is so clique.
the way charge up works.
it's totally useless in pvp.
to have a skill charge up 3 times and actually release it, u'd prolly be dead before it happens.
i think they should remake charge up skills to activate on swinging, not on striking. maybe a 33% chance to activate on swing, 100% on hit.
this way we would see so much more martial art ssins in pvp instead of all trappers.

The crappiness that is Dragon Claw, and weak fire traps. (Maybe one of the reasons is WoI can't pierce an enemy, not sure if that would actually make a difference in the end though)
I also agree that Charges are pretty useless in PvP. They take way too long to make and don't last very long for any practicality, not to mention you need to hit targets to make them first.

Charges dont work in M/HLD
TS sins are quite normal in 9 and sometimes 18.

On the Blade Fury, while you throw shuriken, you freeze like the beginning of Speed Racer.

IMO:
1- kicks should get damage from grief;
2- so should Fury;
3- Fury should be like smite: if you see the shuriken hit, it hit!
4- Dragon Flight should work on the scenario, by pressing shift (go teleport sins!!!!) just like it was long ago;
5- Nat set should get bonus for kick damage (since damage from boots are lame!);
6- There should be more runewords for claws!!!!
traps shouldn't leave such a mess on the floor
Yeah the lag from where a trapper's been camping outside of town is the tg trapper's most lethal weapon ^^

Nevermind...
Why on Earth is the assassin the only character who doesn't need a key to open locked chests? Did her intense studies include lockpicking along with Martial Arts and Magicks or something?
1- kicks should get damage from grief;Wouldn't it be easier if your enemies just drop dead when you click on them?

Of course they did. An assassin needs to be able to pick any look their victim is hiding behind, chests are just a simple addition to the study when you've have successfully handled most doors. :wink3:
getting kick damage from grief is worst than smite+grief, i cant even imagine how much damage that is. combined with existing skills (blaster/clawblock) and you have grief smiter version 2.0.
though itd certainly be fun because sins are one of the most if not THE most underused class these days. all i see are hammers/smiters some sorcs with the occasional bvc,zon and wind druid.
crap on the ground, bone prisons, dead traps, poo golems. they should dissapear after a few seconds.

1. The fact that Assassins are so dang slow swinging 2 handed swords.
2. The overlong NextDelay on Shock Web and Blade Sentinal.
3. Blade Shield, arggh.
Assassins got it pretty good though, overall.
Facet mods don't work correctly with most of the elemental attacks.

Blade Shield
I have a high tolerance for underpowered skills but the really frustrating thing about it for me is that BShield was so bad in 1.09, just barely verging on useful for a few creative players. How it was decided to make it just about completely useless I'll never understand. :prop:

1) You should be able to make Grief in a claw.
2) Assassins should get the sorceress/barb FCR Bps.
3) Claw Block should max out at 75%.
The assassin class is so underpowered compared to the other classes, IMO these fixes would even things out a little bit.

2-trap crap*new phrase lol*
3-dex should help claw block, like dex helps holy shield maxin out at 75%

Just one come to mind now, +chance to block mods like from Twitchthroe or from a crafted safety amulet should add to claw block, is ok as works now but can be much better and less discriminatory(idk if this word is right lol).

allow backstab, one hit kill. period. (she is assasin!)
anyway, some better dmg boost for kicks (or increased base kick dmg), rather than 'grief' would be a nice idea.
I dunno...if boots did around 250 ish average dmg, it would be a lot better XD
and Deadly strike.
but back to where it all started.
backstab. one hit kill.

Agreed if Grief goes to smite it should go to kicks. all or neither.
IAS doesn't affect blade fury. sure its decent as is, but some kind of improvment could be much better perhaps?
No viable ways to incorporate melee claws in Pvp other than WW really (IMO)
