View Full Version : Pure elemantal druid with both cold and fire spells
is a pure elemantal druid (except oak sage, and 1 point in dire wolves and its prequisities to tank) capable of getting strong enough both in fire and cold spells? Druid's elemental attacks seem to depend heavily in synergies but only one type of damage is a problem in hell because of the immunities.
Also, i dont like to use armageddon cause you cant aim, will fissure or volcano be powerful enough to be the main fire attack?
edit: i got the unique maul with +7 to elemental skills btw.

Not really. You could try it, but you'll end up disappointed at the end because neither Fire or Wind skills will be powerful at all.
BTW, "pure" elemental druids use more than 1 element. Wind druids use Tornado which is Physical damage, and Hurricane which is Cold damage. Fire druids' Molten Boulder and Volcano are both half/half Fire and Physical damage too (actually fully synergised Molten Boulder does more Physical damage than Fire damage). Windys are arguably easier to set up and play, while Fire druids require you know a bit about each skill in order to get the most out of them and be viable in Hell.
BTW that maul you have... I wouldn't even bother with it. It has 253 str req, which I guarantee you don't want to be getting. You're probably better off scrounging together the runes for a Spirit sword and shield, much much better.

I disagree.
I made a Wind/Fire/Summon druid and it was one of the most fun builds I've played. It didn't own by any stretch, but I went through Hell well enough. I had a moderate amount of wealth into it, but it was also before the Spirit runeword was revealed, which would add a lot of power to it IMO. I used Wizspike/Stormshield and went max block.. If I did it again I'd go dual Spirits for sure.
I maxed Tornado, Cyclone Armor, Fissure, and Firestorm. Also get Armageddon and Hurricane but leave at 1 point each. Points in summons down to get Grizzly.
The thing about the build is, you have a LOT of damage sources. Turn on Hurricane and Armageddon at the same time (Cyclone Armor and Fissure increase their duration), cast Fissure, and spam Tornado. Combine that with Grizzly and a Holy Freeze merc, and you've got some critters taking serious punishment when they're close to you.
Oh and by the way, one of my goals for the build was to kill EVERY monster I came across. And I did. That included some epic battles with FI/PI bosses where I was letting my grizzly/merc tank while stabbing away with my Wizspike after retrieving my Atma's from stash, desperately hoping for Amp to proc early. :D
