Hi, everyone. I've had the idea to start a classic character for some time now, but have only just decided to pursue the notion. My favorite class is sorceress, so that will be my class choice, and I plan to use her mainly for rushing.

Now, I'm going to make myself sound stupid, but I have a few questions in referrence to playing a classic character.

1. For a sorceress, would it be feasable to go with one element, or would it be better to use two? I like lightning best, with orb second. I'm not sure if going dual tree is a good idea, but also not sure the same about single element one way or the other - mainly because of gear.

2. Speaking in terms of gear - If I remember correctly, there are no runes/runewords on classic (they are expansion only, I think). So my question would be what type of gear would a sorceress usually wear? I would imagine it includes some of the set items, and lower unique items, but what should I be on the lookout for?

3. Leveling/experience - I saw a thread just down the page about which levels you should be at what point in the game, but it wasn't exactly what i was looking for. My question would be, at what point should my character be able to effective complete a hell rush?

I'm unsure of the differences between classic and LoD, but it seems there would be some that would affect how I need to handle my classic character over how I would build her on LoD.

I plan on making two such characters, one each for USWest and USEast realms. I play randomly, spending the time I am online working on my LoD Ladder characters across three realms.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you find holy shield scepters on east (or even west) keep them, convert to LoD and sell them to LLD'ers for big $$$

Also if I'm not mistaken you can get some pretty sick rares like boots with totally O_O mods that could really, really sell well 2. Rings... ammys also.

I never expected to see you in here Lynn! It sounds like you are planning on Hellforge rushes, in which case Mordigan and I are having a discussion about that exact topic here (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=590420). We might even be writing a guide on it.

As a LOD player, I got massive culture shock when I first switched to Classic. It actually was very good preparation for the ladder reset, as it feels the same not having any items unless it's self-found. For rushing, you'll probably go for an Orb Sorc with maxed teleport and a handful of remaining points in a backup skill, either Firewall or Thunderstorm. For playing the game, I'd save the points from teleport and build a dual element Sorc, or maybe a single element Blizzard Sorc.

Many items that are considered rubbish in LOD are very valuable in Classic. Things like Spectral Shards, Frostburns, Twitchthroe and a Drognan purchased Prismatic Bone Shield of Deflecting are considered among the best in Sorc equipment.

As for level requirements, my Hellforge rusher is at level 69 and is capable of doing the job of getting to Hell Act 3. :)

P.S. Classic is a great source of superior mage plates. :)

What?

You're saying that in D2C boots/rings/ammys spawn with mods unavailable in LoD? (from a lld standpoint that is)

Welcome to classic and hopefully you will stay and play it more than just occasionally!

Anyway, if the target is a3 hell, then i would build a rusher just like a memph glitcher. Akukami wrote a nice guide complete with item suggestions. Its in the stickies so check that.

As what comes to prismatic bones from drognan... They are not concidered the best sorc items in classic. They just easy to get and do their job if you are poor and dont have anything else. There are far better shields around... I even hate frostburns :azn:. Shard is nice and usually every sorc uses one. Twich is nice too, albeit mageplates are better combined with deacent bone/grim shield. Gloves i would use magefist (to reach 70 fcr with shard), if you dont have couple of nice fcr rings (which can be pretty expensive)...

In Classic rares are much better than uniques. The only unique or set item, that my sorc wears is a shard.
