Multiple CD-Key Installs on one machine?

I wasn't sure where else to post this, hopefully doesn't get locked for being in the wrong place...

I recently bought a 2nd copy of the Diablo battle chest for a 2nd set of CD-keys so that I could run two instances of Diablo 2: LoD on my machine simultaneously for muling and forge-running. Then I realized that I can't exactly use my current installation to register the 2nd key and create that account.

Then I had an idea, but I'm afraid to try it without some feedback. If I uninstalled my current installation, that should NOT delete my Closed, US West Realm B.net characters and account info since that is saved on the B.Net server, right? So if I uninstalled my current version, with the account linked to my old key, and installed another copy using the new CD Key and created account for my mules, would I theoretically be able to access my old b.net account from my new installation?

I don't have access to a 2nd computer. If I did, this would be a moot point, so if anyone has suggestions, please don't suggest that one :P

If you uninstall your current copy of Diablo 2 your Bnet account(s) will not be affected. Just incase you didn't know you can create as many accounts as you want form one copy of D2.
You will be able access your current bnet account from your new installation.
