Merc Gear Question

Ok im using a Light Sorc and i got a small question but not sure if ppl can come to a good answer.

Right now my merc is a holy freeze merc using:

Eth Infinity
Eth Fort
Andys

The only thing my merc really dies to are the archers in the pit and the usual Andy/Meph because mercs cant leech off them.

My question, is there anything i can socket the Andy's with to help with that? Other then a Ber for damage reduction?

Would a jewel with hit recovery and attack speed help at all?

Possibly, you could swap fort with coh? Just an idea.. It'll do 200%ed to demons (which is like..75% of the monsters in mf), has 65 resist(Stack the merc's resist for andy/meph), has damage reduce%(For those archers),mf,strength,life replenplish.

i prefer eth upgraded shaft instead of fort - makes the merc tougher vs physical dmg

don't bother with FHR - it doesn't seem to help at all

Try putting your merc vs a ton of Urdars or Threshers that have knockback or crushing blow or stun and tell me if you merc will survive. I believe FHR should help alot.

Fort gives an extra 300%ED so better then COH, resists are already maxed, 8% reduction is useless in my opinion when fort gives frozen armor which boosts defence alot, and the mf, str, and life replenish are also useless.

Well, I don't know. My merc survives against andy/meph and he doesn't even have max resist. It's at 22 in hell.
He can also for some odd reason tank pits. I give him an occasional potion or two when I meet fanatic archers.

well what level are you and your merc? I think that's the most important thing. You are using the exact same setup as me except I don't have an eth Fort. Is your Andy's socketed with a Ral? I would suggest it to offset the -30% Fire Resist. Anyways, when my merc and I were around level 80, he would die all the time. I didn't really switch anything from then til now and now the only time he dies is with stupid IM. Also, what are his resists?

replace the Andy's with a vamp gaze.

a Sol or a Cham in the gaze would help.

The aim for your merc is for the conviction aura and not a tanker that can solo Bosses.

I think merc suffers big penalties to their damage and life leech when handling Bosses. So I suggest YOU tele around and spam lightning instead of standing there like a moron while your merc gets pawned.

My merc has the same gear as yours and he can survive archers pretty well at the Pits with no problem (unless they have fanactiscm aura) so I suggest you tele away instead of fighting those.I think their not worth the effort.

Another thing, check your merc level. You cant expect a level 70 merc to survive Andy/Meph in hell.
