Blocking

How many of you out there have a high block sorc? Is it necessary to get all the way to 75% block? Would 60, 50, even 40% still be an effective tool?

I want to use spirit on my sorc, but in order to get 75% block its over 300 dexterity at level 90. I use an ethereal spirit by the way. For 60% Block it will take 245 dex, a little more reasonable.

What should I do about blocking? I've never made a sorc with high block...never even considered it until now. How high do I really need to take it?

If you're going to go for blocking, go all the way IMO.

And the only way I would ever consider using Spirit in a blocking setup is with Twitchthroe or Guardian Angel. Otherwise it's not worth it. I'd use a nice Sanctuary or Stormshield if I was going with blocking.

Don't use a max-blocking with a Spirit. You'd need A LOT of +Life gear just to make yourself fragile (instead of fragile-as-hell).


Personally, I like to have 800+ life on sorcs, then pursue blocking (often resulting in less than 75%). The means that I often don't acheive max-block, but it also means that it takes one hell of a wallop to one-hit KO my sorcs.

Another reason not to get max blocking with Spirit is she'll block so slowly you won't actually *want* to block ;P

You could go with storm and get a max block without huge problems.
I'm currently making one atm and you get max %dr pretty easily too with full vita.
You just have to concentrate on +dex gear somewhat, (wws, hoto, 15dex rings x 2, amulet with dex blablabla).
When wearing enigma, the storm won't be a problem when -15req (+adds) jewel inside.

With spirit it's rather tough and I wouldn't bother.

For gm duels, I had a blizzard sorc with block. It was nice and did well against a bvc.
