Hi,

I searched the forums, but could not find an answer for the following question:
Which recipe gives the most chance to get a % FCR on a crafted ring?

I think I will use the caster ring recipe, since this gives mana and mana regeneration which are mods that are useful to my sorc as well.

Anybody have some experience in crafting rings?

check the summit.

You can't get some from crafting so you need to have the normal suffix. 10% is highest you can have on rings this way.

blood ring is the best kind to craft IMO

i have once crafted a 10fcr/1xxar/21str/ll/19life/resist/stuff ring on nl and sold it for a griffon.

like NASE said, there is not a recipe that gives fcr bouns like on a ammy, so all recipe are equial and only luck of the draw can get u a fcr ring

So the mods on an item remain on that item when crafted?

If you had, for example, +mana on an amulet, and you made, say, a caster amulet with it, would it stack the +mana?

(Assuming caster amulet gives +mana)

No, it spawns as a new item with new pre- and suffixes.

Which recipe to go for really depends alot on what character and build you want the item for. The different recipes have their pros and cons.

Safety would be best for ES sorc (or abbot), since its possible to get a lot of DR/MDR on such a ring, in combination with FCR and mana. However, it's hard to beat the mana bonuses and skill from a SoJ, so you'd use a SoJ unless you REALLY need fcr from that ring slot.

Hit power would possibly be the best for a Hammerdin, since it could get up to 20 dex (which is important for max block) which would be equal to 60 BOable life. Provided you're using maras/spirit and want the 125fcr breakpoint.

Blood is the real beauty, with up to 25 str, 80 life, 10fcr and 11 resists. Sols and Prubies are more expensive than Amn and other gems tho.

Caster could get 20 more mana than other recipes, gets 1-5 energy more, and some mana regen. However, in the days of insight mercs, not a lot of people will notice 5-10%more mana regen. Also, +energy is not increased by BO or items with %max mana such as caster boots.

Crafted rings are very underestimated. That could be said about a lot of crafted items, tho.

I am now going to use full tal set and 2 10% FCR rare rings with nice resist and mana bonusses.

I think I will still try to craft some nice caster rings though. I needed 2 rings to get to 70% FCR (63% breakpoint) I could either use 2 rings or switch my frostburns for magefists. But since I do not use fire skills, I wanted frostburns for the +mana% bonus.

Once I crafted some rings I will post an update here. I will try the blood and the caster recipes, depending on what the countess will give me and my availability of jewels and other requirements.

Frostburns on a sorc are not very useful on a sorc IMO, even on those with base energy. Better wear Magefists. Together with full Tal's and a 35% Spirit, you will have 105% fcr, so you can wear two Nagelrings instead. A torch and a few single res SCs will max your resists as well. The other inventory space can be used for Gheed's and skillers of your preferred element. That means you can probably live pretty well without fcr rings.
