View Full Version : What's the best base item to put Death runeword in?

Obviously Ethereal would be the best, but what item type? I'm a Zerker Barb using two one-handed weapons, one being Alibaba - I'm a GF Barb.

Any tips?

i would suggest using ethereal berserker axes, because of the low dex requirement and good damage (better than swords)

Because if I deal a lot of damage too then we kill things faster. Ethereal Berserker Axes sound good, but won't my attack speed suffer?

Death is quite a powerful runeword, but it suits some builds better than others.
As for your concerns, yes your attack speed will suffer, since no ias with this weapon.
As you've noted, making Death in a faster base weapon will help increase speed.
Something to match your ali baba sword, you could make death in a phase blade to really increase your attack speed, but at the expense of hi physical damage.
Etheral Zerker and Etheral Colossal Blades will give way more damage, but you will need to find a balance.
Id say read the goldfind barb build before going any further, god knows why it wasn't stickied

Maybe a eth 15ed 5sox Warspike.

Its faster than a BA but the damage is also way lower.. But Death BA is realy very slow. Why not use Grief?

Or a Wind Hydra Edge^^, match ur Ali B sword (no, dont:))

Some rare 440ed 40ias 2sox eth/repair Hydra Edge would be awesome. However, never saw one

And you'll be dead before you get through a swing.

The only use for 'Death' on a barbarian is 2nd hand on a Frenzy-based build. Much too slow otherwise.

oath is a good choice.
id use oath over death for a zerker barb.

Your guide is based on a faith mercenary which makes it an entirely different story in terms of attackspeed. Without such you may reach 13 FPA at best without sacrificing too much.

Faith is quite an expensive runeword and so is not very viable at the moment.

Some guy has offered me a 5soc Ethereal Ettin Axe. I'm unsure of the value, what do you guys think?

EDIT: I've checked out the Oath runeword and that seems to be a very good option. It also saves me having to find a Vex rune. I guess I should just hope for a high-end %ED roll.

EDIT2: Could I put IAS Jewels into a Helm to increase my attack speed on my main weapon?

ettin axes have high dmg, but 10 less attack speed than zerker axe.
really just depends on if you got the IAS gear to support the increased damage.

btw daiwales I saw SOMEONE on this forum advertising a 4os sup eth colossus sword.
it would be ideal for your zerker barb i think. might wanna search for it.

and yes IAS jewels in a hat will increase berserk's attack speed.
i would still use arreats though for a zerker barb. +4 zerk = ghodly.
