I'm itching to make a rushing sorc. Did a search and found a few helpful threads.

From those threads it is obvious that one should include Orb as the primary killer. The secondary killer is not as obvious, there are many options.

1) Orb/TS
2) Orb/Nova
3) Just Orb (ala Meph Glitcher using Orb only)
4) Orb/Fireball
5) Orb/Meteor
6) ??? Any others ???

I have built last ladder an Orb/Fireball sorc, and she has good killing power, and is very easy to level up, since Fireball is a level 12 skill. However, one downside to this one is lack of Teleport, until you get to a higher level, cause points need to be spent into damage to be effective. In the end, the my Meph glitcher ended up killing faster....It would seem that Orb/TS is good IMO for that, cause points would be available for Teleport. I just hate leveling up an Orb sorc, no decent killing power until level 30. :sad2:

Bleh, I guess I'm just rambling. I am only searching for something that will rush pretty much everything except for Hell Travincal (which is better done with a Barb IMO). Most people only want to be rushed past Hell Meph, and then given the RoF WP anyway.

Any old cold sorc does the job well up to hell travincal. Blizz, orb + tele, orb + es, orb + static. take your pick. Blizz is good in the sense that its awesome damage in general, also very good at clearing the seals at cs and pvp aswell.

pure orb, with assistance from a barb/hammerdin is probably ideal. Blizz is fine though you lose either damage or a 5 mana tele. orb-fire is a bit pointless as except when seis spawns CI in nm your first and only guaranteed CI you have to kill is always FI as well, a hell council member. I think I did make an orb-nova once and it worked well but I didn't have a 2nd account then.

I would go with an orber with 15+ (18?) points into teleport, so that you wont have to use pots that much. If you meet a cold immune (NM seis, NM travi) just switch to a barb or hammerdin. In addition a hammerdin/barb might be needed in act2hell viper temple.

I would put 20 points into teleport (or 19 if youre planning to have +5 all skills O_o) if youre going with a orb + tele sorc because it has augmenting effects. I have one in hardcore and it works quite well.

Just curious here, has anyone tried to build a Fire sorc that can rush/meph run? I remember reading somewhere that Meteor takes down meph really fast.

meteor does but there are lots of irritating fire immunes. The Vizier is FI even in normal I think, for example. Though in that case you can just kill with a shard or whatever, in nightmare it would be a little tricker with all the fire immune doom knights around. 1 point enchant for ar and a steeldriver perhaps. Just a bit more irritating.

a rushing sorc on softcore is typically built differently than a rushing sorc on hardcore.

killing everything isn't as necessary in softcore, when the rushee can "death quest" the important, act ending sections.

any of my softcore orbers, or blizzers have made a fine job of rushing to hell act 3 historically.

as for leveling an orber. rclaw, lvl 32 chant, and nm cows are a nice way to level any character to the mid lvl 30 or higher range w/out spending a single skill point.

I have two such chanters now on softcore non-ladder (thanks to the reset) and they both can make any mode of cows. if you are on east, in the evenings this coming weekend, reply via pm and I can probably make a cow level or two for you.

I like to tickle those fire immunes with a staff i found with +3 static and +3 glacial spike. and with +6 to skills from my other equipment , i just static them and then finish them off with the spike. Slow but effective.

When I start playing again, my classic sorc will be something like this:

20/1 orb
20 Static
20/1 Hydra
20/1 Tstorm
1 tele
Rest in masteries. No synergy.

Why 20/1 hydra? It's safe and does good enough damage for classic, if there is something cold and light immune. And I can cast it then keep casting static.
