Gosh, I hate those boss novas. Sometimes I cannot witstand their power.. it's the second time I die for those

1 river of flame, nightmare-->a weak casual grotesque wirm boss died and drained all my 600 full life with a frost nova even with 75% res all.. no enemy auras and I was lvl59..

2 jail, hell-->the smith died and carried me with him.. 660 full life, lvl 67 and 75\72\75 res.. here it goes again.. :unimpressed:

Hardcore players you are genius...or damn ****** lucky! (lol)

or... they kill using a ranged attack, and stay far enough away to not get hit by the nova.

if they're melee, they're probably a barb, with BO, and have significantly more life, as well as the required amount of mana/life leach

You think the frost nova that dead bosses emit? Well i can tell you this, the corpse explosion that dead bosses emit is a lot worse. I have 1k life on my frezy baba, and i killed a fire enchanted and i went down with him. And don't even get me started on the lightning enchanted creatures, boy they are a pain in the ***!

I'm a meleer..I can't range every boss (+_+)
And I have 10% leech..not so bad

Corpse explosion.. maybe the Smith had that.. shows like a little fire explosion? Dunno about lightning enchanted bosses death trap, but I hate too the fact that they emit bolts on every strike..

Anyway yes, it's sure there are people far more experienced than me with this game hehe. I was just damn annoyed because I'm trying to stay alive as much as I can; I died 5 times in total from normal to hell till now.. not so good, but not too bad either for a first time softcore (with some forum help after Duriel)

I've never seen it posted here that certain lightning bosses pump out much greater damage than normally seen. I dont claim to be an expert on them, but here goes a good stab:

First, back before 1.10, the most deadly bosses were MSLEB's - Multishot Lightning enchanted bosses. They had big warbly egg shaped missiles. Watch out especially if they are conviction aura. A single hit from conviction msleb was usually deadly even with way over 1000 life. The Multishot lightning boss isnt around anymore, and its too bad, at least you knew what was coming.

Second, in this game all attacks have a 5% chance of being double damage. When asked about this Blizzard just said 'all attacks'. Also, with the variability in this game, there is usually a range of damage for most attacks: ur Holy Shock could be '1' damage this time around, or maybe '1000' damage. Same with monsters. Couple an occasional higher value in the range, and then double its damage. Thats quite alot, but usually visible within enough time to back off. Lag is a big issue here.

Thirdl, 1.10 Lightning bosses with extra enchantments. This is what is really deadly. There are certainly posts about this here, and at the AB, but all I know is that watch out if the boss also says Fire enchanted. And i'm not talking about the corpse explosion after they die (fire enchanted). Of course, a cold enchanted boss will have a frost nova when he dies, and this is to be considered, even with high resists. Are the frost nova's and CE under the same considerations listed in the Second paragraph? I would suppose so.

What is most annoying about this type of boss: lightning with extra enchantments or chance of statistically higher range of damage coupled with the lightning, is that half the time what is going on is invisible to us. You won't see the missiles and/or the damage you are taking. Then suddenly you are dead, 'life burned'. It's even more irritating than those abyss knight packs in the river who hurl invisible missiles and continue to hurl them until they are dead. How are we supposed to find it sporting to deal with these cheap, sudden instadeaths?

Tsk i dunno, we exploit a glitch in the game to make paladins hammers extra strong using an aura, and then moan when a similiar glitch causes fire dmg to transfer to a dead monsters lightning bolts and kill us - how unfair!

And what gave you the idea concentration working with bh is a glitch?

FE/LE mummy bosses used to be the most dangerous, I don't know if that's the case in the current version.

Actually I think that extreme damage from both BH and monsters are unfair. For this reason I only want hammer just for second attack against PI immunes

The most dangerous minor bosses for me are those that deal high damage + have fast regeneration. I remember these from nightmare:
yeti: treehead woodfist (extra strong, extra fast, aura, LE)
greater mummy: ancient kaa the soulless (extra stong, mana burn, LE)
thorned hulk: stormtree (extra fast, mana burn, fire, LE)
ghoul lord: storm eye the dead (stone skin, mana burn, LE)
oblivion knight: rot shard the slayer (multi shot, LE)

And yes, "one shot" unpredictable deaths are quite annoying. Also "Iron Maiden" curse is too strong, even if that is visible and avoidable (by running away lol).
