Smite Paladin.

Hey,
This is the first time I have made a smite paladin and also the first time I have really played a palafdin I usually don't use them exept for fun here and there. Anyways I would just like to know what stats are most important for a smite paladin? Also if there's anything else I should know just tell me because I'm pretty clueless. XD

My current smiter. Lvl 68 has been built like :

Gear:

Fortitude armour
Dracul's for the gloves *
Gore Riders for the boots *
Hearld of Zakurm for the shield (important to up this to Elite to get good damage) *
String of Ears for the belt
Crown of Ages for the helm
A couple of rings, nothing special as yet
Grief Phase Blade for the weapon *

* marked as important. you need these! Anything else you can swap to your liking.

Skills :

Max Smite ! Your a smiter so max this one out
Holy Shield. You need to max this also.
Fanatism. Max this also.
Put as many points into Defiance as you like. I prefer to max this as it gives a 15% bonus per level to your Holy Shield defence.

Attributes :

Strength. Around 130, more if you like. This gives you damage to smite so dont think you can leave this at a minium.
Dexterity. You'll need around 130 in this to get max block with the HoZ. You should be easy to get this via items and putting a few in there yourself.
Vitality. Pump as much as you can into here.
Energy. Leave this alone, dont was points here. You wont ever need to put points in here. Smite only uses 2 mana per cast and if you get low fighting an Uber or somesuch guzzle a blue pot.

Why is this build good? Well you'll have an insane weapon speed, good fast run, high damage and life leach. You'll have a very fast block speed and 75% chance to block. With the fortitude armour and holy shield on you'll have around 20k defence. Not alot will touch you and if they do they'll be dead before they can try again.

At level 68 my Smiter does 2k damage per smite and utterly wastes anything in his path. This is at level 68. Baal in hell is no problem solo. Have yet to get to Uber Trist but i'll take him there when hes around level 80 or so. He shouldn't have a problem in Uber Trist. Put it this way. A friends lvl 88 Hammerdin can't keep up with the killing speed this build does and has trouble surriving where this build has no problems.

2k smite dmg? Howd you do that? I have almost the exact same gear, stats, and skills you do and I only manage 377 smite dmg and I'm at lvl 72. Mind you it works well, but still.

What might I have done wrong? Any info would be great.
