The last straw.

So I was very excited last night. I was playing on bnet EuScL and I'd collected a key set and wanted to get my first ever torch! So I whispered a guy I found on this website to come help me (my uber smiter isn't quite ready yet...).
I finally got a response from *mcdanger after whispering about 20 people, and he agreed to come help me.
So I made a game, and we talked for a while about the whole process- he muled some juves and a highlord's onto his smiter and all was groovy.
So I opened all three portals in Act 5 (my first mistake). Forgotten sands first- Duriel was dead in about 12 seconds- I thought: this is going well.
Next: furnace of pain (name?). we started to go through- mcdanger was worried about the OKs, so I went with him with my sorceress. Suddenly I got connection interrupted...
Oh god.
My 56k line (2nd mistake) was redialling for what seemed like an eternity.
When I got back on bnet the game was gone and I had been rerolled to 1 keyset and no eye of baal...
GREAT.
So I guess this is just me saying goodbye to battlenet for a while- just until I get a broadband line to play on...
So I have turned to SP!!!
It's amazing- my lvl 24 HC fishyzon is kicking /p 8 butt with charged strike in act 2. I'm worried about duriel though.
I love ATMA!

By the way I don't expect sympathy- I actually feel quite good about stopping bnet for a while.

I don't get it. Do you blame mcdanger or your internet connection? If you're blaming mcdanger why don't you just whisper or PM him(yes, I know who you're talking about) and ask him what happened? I don't believe he would steal your eye of Baal. If you're blaming your internet connection then I can't do anything about it:tongue:. Anyways, welcome to SP, but please try to contact mcdanger if you feel he did something he shouldn't have.

Whoa- i thought i made it clear that i'm not blaming anyone (except maybe me)- I should have made sure the game was permed and i should have only opened one portal at a time. I'm certainly not blaming mcdanger- he helped me out a lot!

Single play is the way to go until they fix connection problems and get rid of cheaters and idiots. Since if you get rid of an idiot the world just seems to create a better one, I personally think that online play is pretty much doomed to be a distant second to a well designed single play game.

if I want to MP on my 56k line will it be faster/same/slower than bnet?

Probably much faster provided you're using tcp/ip, since you won't have to worry about b.net server lag. The distance between you and the person you're MP'ing with also has a lot to do with it, so if you're playing with friends around your hometown you'll do a lot better than people across the world.

Update: my zon is chilling out in act 3 now- level 26. I somehow cubed a savage partizan for my merc so when he gets enough strength I will give him that, and then heads will really start to roll...
I have collected 3 uniques and 4 set items- I might start my quest for the holy grail! (after about 100 more of each ;)
