Who do you guys feel are some of the better wwsins you see on west? I tried to play my friends wwsin for the weekend and all i can say is theyre alot harder to play well than most think, especially a ghost assassin. WHO'RE THE BEST WWSINS ON WEST>?
From what I've heard: (have only dueled a few)
HappyAssassin, TienJe, TheRisingX, and Bune are top of line.
Smithenator, Pecan, Supra, ThatWasShockin, Mephiztophelez, and Redemption (possibly, only heard about him today could be one of the better/worse ones) are above average.
Jr-Sr, Lysergik, and Clarinet are average.
mephiztophelez

my $0.02:
runics (happyassassin), buneIV (derek), smithenatroll (smitty) and Pix (idk who this guy is, but he's pretty gg) get my vote.
modesty prohibits me from listing myself in there, but these are the guys who gieb me difficulty in Sin v Sin duels.

You calling Clarinet average? I thought I was at least better than TheRisingX. Just kidding Hanson. <3 you.
Bune owns all the other newbie assassins mentioned.
TheRisingX doesn't count as a noob. Hes cool too

WHIRL AWAY! WHIRL AWAY!
WHIRL AWAY! WHIRL AWAY!
Thats So Bm.
A Godly assassin would have whirled into me in a small 1 foot pattern with only one trap set to win as #1.
THATS BM.
A TRUE TOP # 1 GHOST ASSASSIN WOULD HAVE WHIRLED INTO ME IN SMALL 1 FOOT PATTERNS.
TRUE DAT YO.
THROW CAUTION TO THE CURB AND WHIRL TOWARDS THE HEAVENS!
p.s. i find it funny that we have already mentioned most of the wwsins that i know of. as soon as you make a ghost, you're top 10!

Clarinet is actually my old character.
I've upped the life about 300, resist by 25, mana by 200, etc.
Not to mention I believe I can actually tri-whirl decently efficiently now :P

i don't intend to be mean, but if that really is the list of the top wwsins on west, our realm must be in a sad state.

As much as it is possible to just steamroll other wwsins by holding down whirl bvb style, that doesn't really hold as true for good ghost players dueling each other. You can of course win this if you are confident you are a better whirl than your opponent, but you'll be at a disadvantage if the opponent knows how to lure into stun, how to take advantage of stun in between whirls, and how to use mb to chip away damage while letting ow drain.
Given that possibly best gameplay wwsin of east inK_Honor dominated the wwsin ladder for a good deal of time in 1.10 (after shevlock left the ladder though) with a griffons wearing wwsin, his ability to chip away damage with distance/stun in duels being more the reason for his wins than his equipment, although he was a collector of rare claws, and did use a very nice fools kb rare claw.
Kodachi is another example of gameplay over holding down whirls and trying to bvb, no one could spam mindblast like him. Defense ftw.
Also given that a very large amount of d2pk players have cloned my wwsin item for item, and I have yet to lose a set in a mirror match, I think there is a good deal more to wwsin duels than ol' bvb holding down mouse2 for a while.
Although on a side note SeeD on east proved that fort + eth glitch claws can be used to overpower wwsins much as a bva would overpower a bvc. He managed to rise to the top of the ladder at one point in 1.11, although there were better gameplay enigma wwsin players on the ladder at the time.
I find fort vs fort duels tend to also be a lot more random like bvb, because damage comes in huge chunks, and a succession of successful weaponblock rolls become a lot more important.
In this way wwsin duels are like bvb sorta =\ which is why I'd rather be dueling enigma vs enigma all the time in wwsin duels.

Dave is the best WWsin I've seen on USWest, he's much better than legs (*diablo4_ever or something like that, I used to duel him on ladder). Pretty much all the guys who came off of ladder know the stuff they should be doing (triwhirls, trapping, good MB use etc.), it's just that most of them don't actually execute the moves consistantly. Consistancy is the main point at a certain level, dave pretty much always does a good DoD, other sins it seems like its around 50/50. If I had to make a list of the top sins that I've seen it would be:
(*TienJe), (*RedemptioN)
Everyone else falls into the "good but not great" category (I'm not trying to be mean, just honest). I'm sure there are some other good sins lurking out there, they are just not known to me.
In terms of the ladder sins, I guess I'd rank them (I'll use char names):
TheRisingX (I forget what the actual sin is named)
Smithenator
Pecan
XoZ-Cry
Mephistopholez (I can never get the variations in spelling right)
Covalent
Pix
I think this is about right, as I said they are all of very similer skill level and I'm going off what I've seen in team duels and from 1v1ing them.

About the other sins...can't say I really know any of them except Smitty (bought his ammy - 2sin/19fcr/18res). And he's pretty good but I dont like LS/WW hybrids.

Honestly, I agree 100%. Ghosts are caster killers, not SvS builds. Anytime a ghost catches an LS/WW without traps, they win. Anytime an LS/WW dodges a triwhirl, they win, etc.
Yea the real way to tell I guess would be have the top necs trade off pking the top ghosts and record wins and losses. A major factor in that would be that as the necs pk the ghosts, they will become more accustomed to how they have to PK the ghosts and will become better each duel they have. But then I guess the ghosts would get better too...Idk I hate talking about #1 **** because imo there's no way to ever tell who's #1 and who's not, etc. Just accept the fact that if you're good, you're good, if you suck, you suck, and theres probably someone out there who is better than you at certain things. :wink3:

Yah I kill all of you sin v sin :P But as everyone said, sin v nec is probobly a better indicator of skill and the complexities of different players vs. different necros makes it pretty hard to determine a "best." I wouldn't put myself in a "top wwsins" post though, that just doesn't seem right.

I was thinking of putting a point in DClaw on my WoF/WWsin but I don't think I'm going to because I won't get the same damage benefits that ghosts get because my Claw Mastery isn't maxed. I'll stick to Norm Attack I guess.

Can't record without ultra lag. Our duels also last longer than 30 seconds which is a problem. Well, he makes a VERY good point about killing the shadow off fast with teeth and he plays ultra defensive. He's also good at predicting where I'm coming from.

First off Ollie thank you very much for failing to mention me in your little post about good wwsins *hacks ollies account* ahem..... now that that's through I am now #1 because I own both BUNE and RUNICS! rawr.
This is how I would rate some of the better ww sins on west.... (in no particular order)
Tienje- seriously pro team dueler
Redemption- (I am pretty sure that's Stunlock) Sick up style points for being a WoF ghost, dominates pubs.... oh boy have we had our fun lately... mwahaha
Runics- (when its HappyAssassin playing) awesome all around player, particularly sin vs sin is where he really shines (when he wears t-gods of course.... *snarl* GG's Ollie :P
Smithenator- Solid WW sin, good all around player.
Haven't dueled the rest of the others mentioned in awhile, but they are all formidable opponents for sure. I would most certainly rate Namelock, Stunlock, and Runics the tops on west for sure.... unless I'm allowed to nominate myself of course!

I honestly don't think he's max block. If you've ever played sin where you have to play tele-zerk style (tele-dclaw), you'd know that it rarely hits, but when it does, it stuns for a while and you can proceed hitting. The first hit is by far the hardest to nail because it's slow. I think the necro just teled away before he could land a hit, because 1) I didnt see any blocking animation and 2) When he hit him right before he killed him, every claw hit (I think).
What do you think?

Actually jeet was using a max block setup.
2.9k hp with shael ber helm and shael'd ss, lower hp than his usual setup but what he chose to use vs physical damage dclaw.
And yeah landing that first hit is difficult. After you strike a necro once its easy to follow up on the same chain if you have the timing down, its when they tele before you can dclaw is when it's hard to land a hit chaining. Once you start dclawing you should be able to hold them in place and its very easy to follow up even if they tele out.
You also see a nice use of wsg when he was trapped in the wof to be able to tele out. Makes it very hard to lock him down with traps.

So you agree that DClaw vs Maxblock necs > WW?
So you agree that DClaw vs Maxblock necs > WW?
dclaw/normal attack + ww > max block nec
its the combo that kills. you use dclaw to force them to run, and then whirl while they have reduced block. you won't be able to kill them in one pass like you can with a non-block necro though.
you just have to know when to break off. you need to be confident that you can get another lock and be willing to stop hitting the necro when you see your shadow stack/stun going. you have most of the control in this duel, so you should take advantage of it. if you ever feel like you're in a bad situation, you can back off and wait for a better time.

So you agree that DClaw vs Maxblock necs > WW?
Yes and no. I think partly the reason why I dclaw necros so much is that Im very comfortable with the tactic from being a long time kicksin player, it just feels more safe to me than trying to whirl.
Also there are advantages such as staying stacked with shadow, which can avoid all spirit hits altogether, that and I find golem eats up a lot of hits when I try to dod necros.
TienJe is right though, vs good necros you have to use a combination of tactics, both dclaw and ww have their place. There are anti dclaw tactics (r/w away ahead of time) which can make a necro difficult to catch with just dclaw. Sometimes I purposfully chase necros with dclaw knowing they will r/w down, then when they get predictable I switch up and whirl down, hitting them mid r/w and then going for more short whirls or start dclawing them.
A lot of necros I duel also have a habbit of instantly bonewalling as soon as a wwsin starts to dod around them, this eats up pretty much all the hits, and makes ww useless. In this case I whirl to position myself on them, then dclaw while they are trapped in their own bonewalls.
As always there are tactics and counter tactics to every strategy.
In the duels vs jeet, I was confident I could dclaw him down without ww, that he would not be able to dodge the chain namelocks eventually, so I put on warfist/runic rare claws for more damage and higher ias stack vs golem slow. vs some other necros, I put on my regular suwayyah/runic combo with a chaos claw and use a combination of dclaw and ww.
I have to say I use dclaw a lot more than ww in that setup as well, ww is sometimes used for positioning myself for dclaw. I do kill necros with dod occasionally but I really feel more comfortable dclawing a necro down than, but that may just be my gameplay preferance. TienJe has it down pretty well on how to dod necros, whirl seems to be working well for him.
Do you think there is any chance this thread stays on topic as well?
