will a smiter using upgrade hoz stand a chance against bvc and smiters who use exile? I am in the process of making a smiter and his gear will be

shako
maras
upgraded hoz
greif pb
enigma
dungo
soj and raven
gores
dracs.

Most smiters use exile and i have never seen ones that use hoz.

I have a V/T with a non upgraded hoz that has outsmited pure smiters. They probably werent the best but they had the basic smiter setups. There isn't much of a damage difference between exile and upped hoz. The only differences are that exile gives life tap and defense while hoz gives additional stats and skills. I believe hoz is better than exile but then again I don't use any tap. Exile's defense might help against bvc's but IMO hoz is better overall.

exile is always better, but its also really lame.
if you can win duels with out relying on exile then props to you.

Well, damage wise, an upped HoZ will out damage exiles. But as mentioned, you lack tap and def which will inevitably cost you duels vs BvCs and other Smiters.

i have atm the anti-smiter build/gear on my bvc (since i mf and i need the space) and i faced this guy in Sc East Ladder, a smiter, named SMITERRR

i beat just about ANY smiter that i have come to face, but i had a whole lot of trouble with this one

he didnt use an exile but instead a HoZ, and we went ft5 and i won 5/4

i had to octagon-whirl just to win, meaning that im leaning to free ww chump hits to win, instead of actually ww'ing through him or clipping

how was he so good with no exile? So Hoz sucks for melee in general even if i use dracs and ber it?

Up'd hoz smiters wail exile smiters. Most bvcs aren't a problem either, you just don't stand still and shift smite.

i believe life tap is bm in gm duels, so alot of pros out there concentrate on gm builds, and since pros used/tweaked it, it gets a much better "quality" if u may

i cant really explain this but, since those people who fight gm duels have far more IQ than the regular pub bmer, they make not-accepted gear beat a totally full blown wide spread gear that any idiot can use from sheer force of knowing

im not good with crunching numbers, but i remember reading that (at least smite vs smite) a HoZ shield will be far supperior to an exile. all (gm) duellers i have meet uses HoZ because thats the shield for PvP while exile is PvM shield.

Upped HoZ is still an extremely viable shield. Theres no reason that you can't win against BvCs and Exile using smiters. Alot of the top smiters perfer HoZ over exile, so that statement is nonsense.

It's true that you'll be at a disadvantage versus Exile using smiters due to the lower chance to tap, but it's not impossible. For BvC, the lower dex to block and Str + Vita bonus grants you additional life which makes up for the tap and def you lose.

You forgot to add incorrectly. Tap or not HoZ smiter > exile smiter. If tap doesn't go off in the first 1-2 hits the exile smiter has no chance. Even then most of the time they still die.

i like hoz more than exile - mor res makes it more versatile

I guess i will build my smiter around hoz then. Less dex pumping will be nice. BTW, how much dex is needed for hoz max block at around lvl 88?

you can go up to 19.9% chance to tap, and you'll be to tap 100%ly enough times to win the duel in a ft5 , seriously...
and vs babas exile beats a hoz by far; not just because ur got the abillitie to tap; u also get alot of defiance with an exile
seriously, a good exile build beats any hoz build, get it or not

Life tap is for people that don't know how to dodge attacks. I have yet to see an exile smiter win a ft5 against up'd hoz smiter.
