So I've been playin D2 for a couple years on and off, and I've never really stepped into pvp due to all the gfg expensive gear u need. However, I wanted to do something besides pvm and mfing, and I'd like some advice from u pros here. I have a fair understanding of the game and chars so I probably won't have much trouble using them in pvp. I'd like something that isnt too expensive and still effective, and I've pretty much narrowed my class selections to the following:

Druids
Barbs
Necs
Pallies

To make it easier for u guys, I'll be fighting mainly in pub games(I didn't use the word "duel" because I don't consider myself a dueler and I'll probably be BMing. As long as it gets the job done, it's good:grin: ). Any help would be appreciated, thx.

Could you define ''isnt too expensive''?

Can you afford life/ar and/or sc's like 32020 or similar? Have you access to ''good'' runewords?
What about life skillers?

Hammerdin. Gets the job done easiest, safest and most efficient while being far cheaper than anything else.

Hammerdins just dominate publics. Pallys are best for bm.

I definately dont have access to them as of now, but I can work my way up. I play ladder, so I'm not quite sure about 32020s.

Since everyone is recommending hammerdins, I just might make one, but Pcombs w/30+ life or FHR will probably cost me two arms and two legs, seeing as they're the most expensive GCs out there. Any other suggestions on other classes?

My first pvp char was a windy and he did quite well despite using welfare gear, and I mean WELFARE...minion stack and max block ftw :wink3:

If your looking cheap pubby build, try a Fb sorc but you can't bm with it. Any build that depends on elemental damage can't much bm. Nk and Tg don't count.

I thought about sorcs. Then I thought about absorbs and I just stopped thinking about sorcs.

I like druids quite a bit, and I thought about making a windy, although I wasnt quite sure if it would do well in pubs.(I had one back in a few years with somewhat welfare gear-enigma dusk, wizzy, shako, some weird ammy, ravenfrost, soj, waterwalks, magefists, spiderweb, anni(torch didnt exist yet), ss, and no skillers or charms). He was pretty good, although I had no experience using him and I had no idea on what his BPs are. I didnt even know wat minion stacking was. Is minion stackin when u teleport and all ur minions stacks on u, causing ur opponent to click the minions instead of u?

Your right about minion stack. I don't like wind druids because it has such slow and high bp.

I think this question belongs to the druids forum more, but I dont wannt make a thread for just this: is there really a big difference between 99% and 163% fcr?

On the side note, I've thought some more and have narrowed down to a couple of builds:
Mage
Libby
Pure hammerdin
Some kinda shape shifting druid
Windy
Bone Nec
Singer...

They're all strong in pubs(I think, maybe not the singer... ), but I'm still stumped on which one to make(or make all of them, in which case I'd have to abandon my life for d2).

Bone nec is one of the greatest pvp builds.

Not that sure about libby or mage. I heard they work great.

Shapeshifters are fun. Would really be good is they could tele while in wolf/bear form. Fury/rabies wolf can be very effective.

Mage - too expensive (requires pcombs + gg gear)
Libby - fairly expensive (requires pcombs + gg gear)
Pure hammerdin - doable, probably a good option but takes practice
Some kinda shape shifting druid - need insane gear, but really fun to play (rabies/fury)
Windy - probably doable, but really good gear is needed to be competitive.
Bone Nec - fairly expensive, but do well almost vs all
Singer... - need really crazy gear to stand a chance vs just a few classes
Trapper. I’ve actually only done hybrid kick and ww’ers, but as long as you can get 9 frame traps w/ modest dmg and good namelocking you should do really well. It of course will take practice and some guide reading to work on dueling techniques. Just don’t cast traps and stand in the middle of them for example… I hate those fags. I'd say trapper or hdin would be a good bet for you.

Skillers aren't a must, and 1x-2x life is ok as well. The most basic hammerdin just uses a mix of shako/viper magi/wizardspike/arach/spirit/trangs to get 125 fcr and then just desynch. Fill inventory with life and resist charms. Enigma should be the first runeword you get. After that just work on improving your gear when you can and improve your playing meanwhile :)

Cant really think of anything that compares cost/efficiency-wise.

Hmm, guess I gotta work hard for my enigma and maras then. My hammerdin right now is used for mostly pvm, but it could probably hold its own in pubbies. Should I dump the rest of my skills into res lightning after maxing out hammer and its synergies? Pvm wise it'll help me survive vs souls, and pvp wise it'd help me survive lightning-based builds. It seems like a good choice.

Yeah especially on a budget build.
