View Full Version : You're never gonna break the highjump record like this, buddy. der
Most the time, it doesn't annoy me. Just now, however, I died, had trouble getting to my corpse, and a little more trouble getting away from my corpse. Why?
My Barb's leap will, without warning, stop working. I don't get it. One second, he's leaping around, the next? Absolutely refusing to leap. Have to S&E to fix it. Does anyone else get this? Is there a reason for it?
I may not be the most observant, but it's not my mana being drained. He just won't leap. Fortunately, it's only rare - but like I said, it can be rather annoying.
My observation has been that it's something to do with being hit while leaving the ground though I'm not sure.
It's called a leap lock, kind of like charge lock on a paladin, I'm not too sure about the cause of leap lock, I think it's times when you die during leap or something close to that. Stuff like whirlwind lock can also happen but these 2 are very rare.
charge lock happens when dying while charged i believe (or holy shield fading while charging)
maybe its similar to leap

From my experience with a LLD singer I can tell you the issue is most likely related to being hit while in the air. When using my singer the best way to dodge ranged skills like guided arrow was to leap over them which causes you to be hit but not take damage but the problem is that it lags the game to all kinds of hell after you do it a few times and it's a rather elementry assumption that leap lock is at least partialy lag related.
Hmm.. I can't say I've noticed any lag during leap lock, but whatever the cause it seems there isn't much you can do to prevent it, other than trying not to get hit while leaping - which is my primary reason for leaping in the first place. Heck.
I guess it's probably best to just live with it, as it's only a rare occurrence. Thanks for the input

From my experience leap lock is worse for leap attack, I don't know if it has anything to do with being hit, but it usually happens when I try to use leap attack while surrounded, and I usually have to exit bnet to fix it. It's a life or death thing if your build is using leap attack as it's primary attack. A very sad glitch.

Leap Lock is lag-unrelated. It happens in Offline games as well.
I had a way of breaking Leap Lock, involving regular leap, but I think I forgot how it went.

I'm not sure about the cause, but getting hit just as you leave the ground sounds fairly plausible. One of my first characters ever was a leap-attack barbarian in classic single-player, and one of the big problems was that if I was hit just as I used leap attack, I'd often jump straight up and fall down into the exact same spot. Assuming that the two skills share similar dynamics, there might be some trouble when you're hit at just the right (or wrong) moment when you initiate a leap.
