I've started a javazon and am maxing on CS, LF and jab for LI's. I was wondering what is better for high physical damage, a big scary spear or fast hitting javy with lots of CB and OW? ATM she's Clvl 20 just done atma quest and the bloodthief my sorc found is pretty decent on /p8 (jab at lvl 7) even though the constant repairing is annoying.

Well, definitly don't put any more points in jab, the ED bonus is really small to be worth it.
And if spears are better than javelins, it really depends. For example I like to don't loose a shield so I am a fan of javelins, some of them are pretty decent like upped eth. Titans or eth Demon's Arch...
On the other hand ethereal Hone Sundan is quite good too!

As Hrus said, don't max jab. Get AR and crushing blow instead.
A 'ShaelEthEth' Hone Sundan would be a good candidate. One Shael for speed and Eth runes to make up for the lack of AR on Jab. The 40% crush will add some serious hurt to your pokes. An ethereal hone sundan would be even better for the insane self-repair on that stick. An upgraded hone sundan would be awesome, but the sick requirements kill that plan immediately. You're building a javazon, not a spearazon.

If you're jabbing with a one-hander, the (lack of) AR might become a problem, but the increased speed over a two-hander will make up for it. The requirements on (upped) Titan's are not that bad, and the physical damage it deals is considerable. Also don't forget the importance of life leech (which Titan's has) to stay alive so close to danger.

However, it is the only skill I'm using that uses AR, so points in penetrate will only be useful a fraction of the time and since I've pumped it up to 7, might as well go all out. The AR will also save me post-max block dex points as well although was only planning to put more points in it after LF and CS are maxed anyway.
as for spears and javs, I guess I'll just have to see what comes my way. maybe I'll try out a Malice.

You may as well use the points to get a valk, it'll be way more useful than maxing jab.

Jab doesn't get interrupted, so I'd take advantage by finding elemental damage to complement the rapid attacks..

i'd pick Viperfork or 'Honor' in Mancatcher/Ghost spear.

Another good low-twinkage option is the runeword Strength (AmnTir).
The crushing blow and life leech are a great combo for jabbing away.
