Just a quick question regarding minimizing damage taken to your character.

What does the sorc. frozen armour spells do? Pure physical or magic dmg too?
Does a Necros bone armour stop spell dmg? It says dmg reduced by.... is it pure physical?
Can a sorc max out the energy shield spell with the weird synergie thing that i dont really understand and TANK a necros Bone spirit?
That black armour, RockFleece - it again has dmg reduced by % - does that do ALL dmg, not just physical?

In theory, could a sorc wear rockfleece, stormguild, max out energy shield and a frozen armour, and be able to tank a ww which is pure physical, AND tank a necros bone spirits with little loss of life?

Frozen armor deals magic and physical I believe, the armor for ranged attacks sends an Ice Bolt back at you.

Only stops physical, any magic or elemental will not be stopped by Bone Armor.

Energy shield takes any damage you recieve and converts it into mana lost, so bone spirit would be "tanked" by this but only for so long. Also I think energy shield may be overritten by a necro curse, because I know it happens when ever I try to use it in a hell cs run.

Just physical damage, when you get magical damage reduced you will see that it will say magical. Nagelring is perfect example, reduces magic damage and sends damage to attacker.

You could do that, what will be your main attack spell though? I guess orb.
This is a viable build, but not anything I would enjoy playing.

Ok thanks for help

No i was just curious how to absorb or tank various attacks and whether or not certain armours are actually more usefull than they appear, or just nice gold colored red herrings:shocked:

contrary to the popular opinion, I experimented with a repper/ES Sorc just before the end of last ladder.

her "final" build would have been quite high, higher than I cared to calculate.

but...

she had quite a bit of energy, 100 vita, some added to str/dex in order to wear some fairly heavy gear and shard.

she had maxed:
Energy shield
telekinesis (synergy of above, that I don't quite understand how it synergizes)
warmth.

she also wore the following dtm gear, which supposedly is a "no-no" for an ES sorc.

nightsmoke - 50% dtm.
blue 30/20 priz, pdia 12% dtm bone shield
biggins bonnet - 20% dtm I think (or is this infernals cap I'm thinking of?)

I never got her to the point of actually trying to duel/tank a WW with, as she only had lvl 3 orb when I did some house cleaning, and deleted her (she had a borrowed "illegal" non-dupe armor with 4 pskulls in it)

point of the matter was, that she could teleport an entire cs w/out potting at all, including the errant teleports into massive numbers of monsters in the cs, and only died once, or twice when she got mana burnt after the BO wore off.

it would have been interesting to see how well she faired PvP even with a legit armor if I had kept her. More or less I was trying to understand how Energy Shield and/or DTM worked. Not quite sure I satisfied myself as to the answer, but it did put me to thinking about re-examining my ideas about sorc builds if I ever find the time to play more actively again.

Forget Infernal's. Go with Howltusk for 35 (?) DTM and the sexy black Great Helm look.
