View Full Version : Breath of the Dying - what is it best suited for?

hypothetically speaking if someone were to make a Breath of the Dying runeword with no realistic expectation of ever being able to make it again what would be the best possible item to set it in? Is there a particular class that would be notably better able to make use of that runeword than any other?

All of my end game characters to date have been Sorcs. I hate losing teleport and can't make an enigma since high end runes never drop in single player apart from the occasionally totally unlooked for Zod. So even though I have some vague low level and indirect experience with playing other classes I really couldn't claim any familiarity with which builds would best fit with a Breath of the Dying runeword and which item would be best suited for that runeword for that build.

Is there any clear answer to this question?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would make it in an ethereal berserker axe. Zealots can use it, barbs can use it (Frenzy, WW, and concentrate), and fury druids can use it. IMO, berserker axe is the most well-rounded in terms of which builds can benefit from a BotD.

Only if you played multiplayer like a good conscientious person, you would be able to trade those zods to get an enigma :)
BOTD is considered one of the best physical damage weapons. Most physical characters will own with a botd. examples are: ww barb, zealot, werewolf druid...
By far the most popular item to make a botd is ethereal berserker axe. Other applications include: ethereal colossus blade, ethereal thunder maul. Try to make it in an eth item to take advantage of its indestructable mod.

Thanks!

So given that etherial weapons can't be cube glitched I'll technically want to wait until I have a superior etherial berserker axe if I'm dead set on the absolute perfect item to set the zod into right?

So once I see my first superior etherial berserker axe I'll know there is arguably nothing better to wait for to set the botd in?

as long as it has the 15% ED mod already on it i think so. it would suck if you found one without any sockets just to use the cube and not get your six sockets

Ebotdz is an excellent weapon for a Frenzy Barb, especially when teamed up with Edeathz on off hand.
Works well in uberTrist

it would suck if you found one without any sockets just to use the cube and not get your six socketsWhy would you use the cube for making BotD? Just use Larzuk for a guaranteed shot at 6 sockets in the berserker axe.
