You are right about what it means, and it's actually quite a working system to some extent.

I prefer this forum when trading though, unless I really need something fast, as this forum is often inactive for fast trading.

We do not use forum gold here because it leads to scamming which leads to moderation of cases where nobody can prove a thing which will lead to no moderation at all which will lead to anger.. and anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering and suffering leads to the dark side of the Force.

On that particular site that uses Forum Gold, there is a sub-forum with the title "Scammer Accusations".

Note that here on diabloii.net where we don't use Forum Gold, no such sub-forum exists.

So if I scam somebody there, I prepare fake evidence in advance and accuse the poor other guy of being a scammer himself, so my accusation comes first and his will look as if made out of retaliation (and he might even not have any evidence at all) ?

If the mods really act on threads there, even better ! I will get that guy banned from the forum then, that would be an enemy less to fear.

Scammer accusation thread: Useless idea... no, its worse. It's counterproductive.

Well I see your point Krischan but there has to be some way to control the trading, as using a mediator is not possible due to huge amount of trades happening every minute, and the lack of mediators.
I have personally never been scammed as I have this rare skill called common sense.

Perhaps. I honestly don't know what goes on in that sub-forum. I just know that one of my friends trades there frequently and hasn't run into any problems. Maybe it's related to this "common sense" that HardyTarget is referring to

Common sense covers stuff as not giving first to someone who joined just recently or otherwise suspiciously acting person, as using the fg system means the other person must go first, in case someone didn't know.
I'd rather sell an item to charsi than get scammed out of it.

But its a well working system. Im not that seriously into the game to make use of it fortunatly.

You are probably right from a trader's point of view. However, I guess there is a community of established traders who can do anything they want and if you aren't a part of it, you are free game for anybody. Nobody will believe you if an established trader cheated you (and I'm sure that quite a few are scamming forum newbies from time to time) and nobody will care, as it doesn't hurt to ignore you. If you get scammed by somebody who is considered as trustful there, there's nothing you can do. Even worse, if you bring it to the public, it will have the opposite effect. Of course, respected traders could do the same here, but the chance to get scammed and thus the temptation to try one is far lower because you can do nearly all trades in a trade window.

I considered it from a moderator's point of view and many issues are about people who have problems because of a lack of common sense. I'm not willing to moderate a forum where people accuse each other of scamming all the time, without presenting any real proof or with evidence which has a rather high chance to be faked, with people being angry about the issue (either rightfully if they got scammed, or not if they are just behave like that to counter scam accusations) and there's nothing I can do about it to solve any issues. That's probably why there's nearly no moderation in the forum we are talking about. If a mod acts in there, it's probably not because of watertight proof, but in favor of the most powerful or the loudest fraction. I'm just assuming here, however.

It makes sense to do acts of "reason of state" like that from time to time (acting for the sake of the so-called greater good, ignoring the demands of individuals), but it should be an exception, not the base for all kind of moderation.
