View Full Version : CTA: Phlase blade or flail?
as the topic says pb or flail?
put it in a crystal sword instead of a pb.... lower dex req.
and it's more tradable.
btw either crystal sword or flail is fine.
most people dont use cta to swing, they use them on off hand for the warcires
any wep will work, 1h with lower reqs are best

crystal sword all the way, it's easier for me to tell if I lagged and my weapon switch didn't actually happen, I've been killed in nilithaks throne and the WSK tons of times, cause the weapon switch never happened and i couldn't tell the difference from my HoTo and my CTA

Make it in eth chrystal sword if possible, that way it has the highest resale value, especially if it turns into a perfect one.

If you want to make it in a weapon other than CS or Flail, make it in Mat Bow to get a nice switch of a zon weapon.

Same for smiters with grief pb:azn: Only the way around.
Flail = Crystal sword.. Whatever u prefer.
Sorc can use some 3ES/3(some armor) staff. But u loose the 2 + skills from spirit.
If ur a rich pala, try to get some scepter 1/2/3 to holy shield. Insanely expensive.
Be different, make it in a thundermaul. No just kidding.
i often managed to get my switches confused when i had cta in a crystal sword and grief on my paladin. i would take your chars weapon into consideration. especially if you are going to do what hardy said.

The str requirement is a bit high, so probably better to make it in an eth thundermaul.

If you really want to make one in a thundermaul, I don't think the str requirement is the problem as it will have 2xx even if it was eth, or perhaps it was 196, I can't remember atm and too lazy to check.
When it's non-eth, you can hit with it at least
Sarcasm ;-)
Str is 253 for non-eth, according to battle.net (and eth is -10 IIRC)

I'd go for ethereal flails, for style points. I'm trying to cube my eth one for 4 or 5 sox. I didn't even think of the 5 sox usability. This greatly increases the chances of cubing it.
If you are concerned about mistaking it for something else, make cta in a double axe. They max out at 5soc anyways, and look different from anything you'd use.
Guess u figured out what the most popular choices are for CTA no?..
Flail/Crystal sword, eth or non eth. (just to sum things up^^)
Its just what u like best and its not really a mayor difference between these 2 anyway, apart from the looks.
If the base weapon is ethereal the req. will be reduced by -10. And it just looks cool. Any 5 sox weapon will do, but best is 1 hand with low requirements. Its only about the barbskills on it after all.
As shield i would use a ethereal spirit monarch. U dont use the shield in combat so it can be eth. Looks cool and -10strenght requirements is always handy

He simply said "should not", not that it's impossible
Eth cs and eth flail are the best options, considering the resale value.
i hate flailis for the fact that hoto is made into flaili also. crystal swords are way to go for cta in my opinion
A third option, besides flail or crystal sword, would be a double axe.
