Upped items and new rlvl ?

I have upped my twitchthroe and I expected the rlvl to be 25 as it is for trellised armor. However, it ended up as 30 which means my lvl 28 LLD cannot use it.

Now I would like to upped my swordhold hold to a barb shield but I am not sure if the rlvl would pass 30 which is something i def do not want. Therefore, u guys have any idea what rlvl would the upgraded swordhold be and how is it calculated? Thanks!

you have to take into account the rlvl of the base item as well.

ie For your twitchthroe, the new rlvl is not counted as 16(original rlvl of twitchthroe) + 5 (from upgrade). Instead, it's 25(rlvl for a trellised armor) + 5.

So for your swordback hold, just make sure that the base item after upgrading (barbed shield) is <23..

EDIT: barbed shield rlvl is 25. so upgrading it would bring rlvl up to 30..=)
