whats the point of hording pgems, junk jewels, and low runes (ral and ort in particular...)? i notice a lot of people using these as currency. also, do chipped gems hold any value any more?

PGems in general can be used to reroll magical items. Specific gems, along with junk jewels, and certain runes can be used to craft various items. Take a look at the Arreat Summit for all the formulas.

Chipped gems no longer have value.

I guess "MF" has become the equivalent of "getting rich" in d2 world. :)

Just regard pgems as the currency for the items that are not really worth HRs or SOJs. For example, sigon's set has some value but nowhere near one HR, so you would pgems to to get the set from someone. Some people regard topazes to be slightly more valuable than other pgems (I'd say about 1.5-2 non-topaz gem) because they are so commonly used to boost mf. I've also been payed handsomely (actually quite scandalously) for a single Pdiamond because some extremely rich guy wanted to socket his shield and wanted a pdiamond fast. He probably could have gotten himself an um rune or two with the stuff me payed me though :)

But first we have to know what the black buttons are made out of. They can be anything.

I think a rotten Camembert French Cheese will do fine. Might even smell a bit like Frosty :french:
