adding sockets

k i found a war staff with +3 fire mastery, it's non-magical (white title) and i want to get 3 sockets into it so i can make it Leaf rune word. if i use the cube recipe (ral+amn+pamethyst) does it reroll the +skills? can i use larzuk to get 3 sockets into it?

is this even a good idea? lol

for leaf you just need tir+ral so you only need 2 sockets.

If you use the socket quest it will give you max sockets on white items so that will give you to many.

The best bet is to add sockets via the cube so that would take 1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst. There is a chance that you will get the 2 sockets that you need but there is a chance that it wont...so if using those runes isnt to much of a loss I would say go for it.

in this case, a war staff would get 6 socket no matter how many times u try.

the cube is all about luck. it have 1/6 chance of giving each one.
so u have equal chance of getting a 1socket or 5 as much as a 2socket

Nope that's not true. It depends on the item lvl whether it gets 6 sox. A warstaff is the last of the normal staves so it's possible to drop on normal. If found on normal it will never get max sockets, more like 3 or so. There is a chart about that, let me look it up. Still the cube option is best for 2 sox.

The three big staff types are the items with the highest number of max. sockets at low ilvls:
Ilvl 1-25: 5 sockets max
Ilvl 26+: 6 sockets max
(and since the staff in question has a level 30 skill, it must be at least ilvl 37, so 6 sockets max)

So you scored the 1/6 chance of 2 sockets? Lucky for you! :thumbsup:
