Just a qeustion regarding the Necromancer class. I'm new to this class but am extremely interested and pardon my ignorance in developing what my friend refers to as a curse Necro, or dark..not sure. Honestly...havn't got a clue. In very simple terms can someone please help me out of my biggoted state, and advise on everything to do with skill/stat allocation, or any variations, or simply to tell me "Shutup we'll do the talking, you havn't got a clue". What I am sure of is that this maxing of the curse skills section is appealing as apposed to skeleton.

Much appreciated, your loyal student:thumbsup:

Most Necro's just put one point in the curses since most of them dont do anything but increase duration or radious. These get boosted nicely with all the +to skills items most necro's already use. The one exception being Primary elemental dealers, they often max or put many points (to the point of diminishing returns) into lower res. I am a fan of the 1point is enough , its not hard to spam the spell an extra time or two. costing only Mana. Saving points for bigger better things. Welcome to the forum , check the guides stickied for different builds, their pro/cons and a breakdown of points/stats/gear

I'd suggest a summoner to start since they are gear independant
my fav,
20 Skele mastry
20 Raise Skele
20 Corpse Explosion (whole screen radious! yaay!)
1 in curses
get 4-6 mages with gear (couple points in just for the freeze, poison for prevent monster heal)
1 in revive (gets boosted)
2-3 in summon resist
1 in the golems
rest in golem mastry

Just IMO for a quick killer

Look in the guides in the stickies of this forum to start with.

A Mojomancer is a Necro that focuses on Curses. He is mainly a supporting character for parties (that would not work in Single-Player), and can be quite effective. Make sure you max CE.

A Dark Mage has maxed Dim Vision. This is again a supporting character. Maxed DV makes everything a lot easier; no ranged attackers, no revivers/regenerators, no monsters running toward you, etc. Again, max CE and you can do some damage of your own, and get points in the obvious curses (lower resist, life tap, amp damage) to give further support.

Master Zap's suggestion to make a Skellymancer (=Summoner = Fishymancer) is probably best to get yourself acquainted to the class, and most parties love having your skellies around.

Some nubs will hate you though, and nubs are common on battle.net. :undecided:

true that. In a baal game this barb got mad at my skellies cuz the were "blocking him from getting at the minions of destruction". So i unsummoned them and he died in about 4 hit by Listor.

lol good response.

I always figure if skellies can take on minions while my bowazon leans against the wall and has a smoke then gg.

@ OP: if your friend is using the term "dark mage" then he may be referring to this guide (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=316569)
