I havent played diablo for a while...
A couple of years ago when i played it was normal to play with MH (maphack)
and now im thinking, is there still some working mh, or have all bnet players stopped use maphack?

tisk tisk tisk
no hacks this site is about legit play.
besides why would you want it?
all the popular MF places are easy to find. and if you build a decent teleporter, you can tele for hours without running out of mana, and finding places becomes a cinch.

okey, i didnt know.. sorry
anyways, what are the popular mf places nowadays?
when i played it were pindel and meph
Tip:
Some MF places are not totally randomly generated. They follow some patterns that can be recognized and used so you know where to go. Search this forum or use google and you'll find these places.
Pindel, meph, baal, The Pit, Eldrich, Shenk, in CS, and some other place.

I might get flamed for this but in D2, I don't think a MH is an evil. Sure, it scores you no points on these forums, but it's not like the horrible thing we know it as in RTSs. Know why?
Because of this: who are you hurting if you're making private solo games to simply find meph quicker? Sure, the "legit" players might hate you for being filthy stinking rich with the aid of something not meant for the game, but if you're playing the game as it was meant to be played, then the "game over, you win" screen, or in this case, the cinematic of Tyrael destroying the corrupted worldstone after you beat Hell would be the ultimate reward and we'd all stop playing.
But we're playing not to play the way the game not for the RPG value of "beat the bosses", but rather, to make like the Governator or Sylvester Stallone and just obliterate every last enemy in existence, the hardest of which were simply put in there just for those people that wanted to do something harder than solo hell baal (who is by far the hardest of the bosses because of his manipulation spells rather than just straight up blasting).
Look, I say so long as you're not trying to go out of your way to find legit players and say "GUYZ FOLLOW ME, I GOT MH!!!11111111111111ONEONEONEONE" then if you're not hurting anyone, feel free, so long as you realize that you're not playing the game 100% legitimately, you're not playing it purely, or as it was intended.
Of course, for the record, remember that some people are against MH, and don't feel that it is right under any circumstances to use it. If you're one of them, then I respect your viewpoints. But if someone has more fun loading up a MH, killing meph in one minute from TPing to durance 2 to him dropping the loot, who are we to rain on their parade?
In War3 or SC, I'd say that MHing should be a dirty crime. However, I think that in D2, to MH or not to MH, I think that's like saying "I like blue better" or "I like red better". It's a matter of taste and playstyle, and so long as you don't impose it upon others, then play like you want to.
Edit: As for your question, whether the majority of players do or do not, while I don't have proof, I have VERY strong suspicion that the majority DO for the simple reason that it saves you a LOT of time AND frustration. It's already frustrating enough that the bosses don't drop for crap, but on TOP of that, if you're teleporting around for 10 minutes and then accidentally die to a group of Stygian Dolls in durance 2 coupled with the loss of several game runs worth of experience, wouldn't that really get you angry? I've already deleted d2 once recently because I simply wasn't getting good drops for a LONG time and have reinstalled since then because as opposed to d2, I can't even FIND games on war3 besides DOTADOTADOTA.
I don't think we need to start up the whole MH argument again but there's a couple of points that need to be made that relate directly to the original topic:
Bliz may or may not have the ability to detect some or all versions of maphack, and they can ban you. Then you'd get nothing off meph.
If you find the way down too fast, repeatedly, bnet servers may think you're a bot, and then tamp ban you, which wouldn't be very serious, but would be highly annoying.

Prion, I have this little philosophy about banning:
If they would ban you, they'd do so the first time you loaded up the MH. Otherwise, it's a case of see no evil, hear no evil for them.
And you don't get temp banned for finding the way down too fast. You get temp banned for creating too many games too fast. In order to avoid this, I suggest you do multiple runs every game. Do pindle, eldritch, shenk, meph, CS/diablo, ancient tunnels, mausoleum, countess, and andy every game. That should put you above the 10 minute mark, MH or not.

Simple point and fact.
MH is against the EULA of the game.
to use it is breaking the terms and conditions that all players agreed to when setting up their account.
MH dosent just show the whole map, it aslo shows monsters that are offscreen, and shrines, and waypoints, and portals, and monsters lvls, and resistances, and their enhancements.
its an unfair advantage, and makes you all lazy. MH is not playing the game, playing the game with any kind of hack is not playing the game.

Advantage against whom? If the monsters would come and complain to blizzard, we might have a case.
That's the difference between a MH in D2 and a MH in War3. In War3, a MH means you have a direct advantage over other players. Here, who's complaining?

why play a game if you have to cheat ?
we play for fun , dont we ?
write a big note "I AM THE BEST" and put it on your forehead , then you dont need to play at all

I doubt this was necessary...
To answer TS, I like to run Andy only. I had best chance with her.

advantage against who?
advantage over the legit players. if your running on the ladder, but you never die, cause you know exactly where to go and where mobs that are going to one shot you are, then your not going to die as often, so you dont get the -exp penalty.
also you can start doing MF runs sooner, you get to baals room safer and faster, you have many advantages (it wouldn't be cheating if it didnt give you some kind of advantage) over legit players. anyway fact stands, this forum is against all hacks and forms of cheating, and this is not the place to debate this, and instead you should go debate this with Blizz see what they have to say about it?

I shall post no more on this topic, as I'm sure everyone (except those for hacking) have heard enough of this debate, and I don't think the message is going to sink into you anytime soon (well not until you've been banned and blocked a few times, or the person who wrote your hacks comes along and steals your accounts, now that would be justice)
If they would ban you, they'd do so the first time you loaded up the MH. Otherwise, it's a case of see no evil, hear no evil for them.
back in 03 or 04, there was a wave of mass bannings which included MH users, also, we used to frequently hear of people being banned at odd times, after say 2 months of using maphack (or whatever). I think people should be aware that this is possible.
And you don't get temp banned for finding the way down too fast. You get temp banned for creating too many games too fast. In order to avoid this, I suggest you do multiple runs every game. thats very true, but in version 1.09, people would do meph (or pindle) exclusively, considering all others to be a waste of time. Some of that mentality may remain.

MH shows you all this? Im recently back to D2 (came back a bit before the ladder reset) and I havent even looked for a working MH. The last MH i used was back in the 1.09 days, and all it showed was the map, the waypoints, and maybe the shrines, if i remember correctly. getting it to show the monsters, their levels, etc required doing something with the MH that was easily caught and banned.
Im not gonna run out and find a MH now, I was just curious

I have played this game for years, on a Mac though. I have never seen a MH that worked on that platform, just PC only. I always wondered what it would be like to have all of those interface options and info. Its too bad its frowned upon. WoW lets you run interface enhancememts and thats a Blizzard product. Well I have had some accounts for over 4 or 5 years, and the items on those accounts are so valuable and rare that I would never attempt to endanger them by usiing any kind of hack not allowed by Blizzard. Wish I could giv it a try though.
i could buy a new D2 CD, create a new account that i would not care got banned and giv it a try. But thats just too much, even if they made a MH for the Mac.
Single Player gets to have a map shown once they go through the game once, not fair that the map is re-randomized each realm game. But then again, thats a "feature".

i don't know that I would call it an "interface enhancement", it basically gives you a Marauder's Map showing areas in the game you haven't been through and everyone who's in it
