i currently have a dual light/cold pvm/mf sorc and i was wondering which act2 merc should i get.

I was thinking about a holy freeze merc but does that reduce the chances of dropping uniques?

for teleporting, a defiance aura merc, will give you more benefit than a holy freeze one.
HF will not tick damage for 3 secs after you land, so if you tele right into a pack of monsters, you will be hit before they are slowed. a defiance merc, will get hit less often, and so will you.
you will be throwing out orbs when your clearing areas, so all non cold immunes will already be slowed, and the HF aura only comes into play against cold immunes, which your CL will stun and they will be slowed enough for your merc to get in front, and take the damage.
