Automap display differences?

I've got two copies of diablo 2 on two different computers. I used the same copy to install, but use different CD keys for each version. They both have the exact same patch, and I have all the same settings and installation features on each.

I noticed that on one of the computers (my laptop), when I am in the Durance of hate, the icons on the auto map that show stairs going up and the stairs going down are distinctly different. On the other computer (my desktop), the icons are the exact same.

I cannot figure out why there are differences. The installations are the exact same, along with all the settings. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the two copies are different?

I am interested. Could you post screenshots of the stairs to show how they are different? I have never noticed anything like this :confused1:

I know it may be hard to tell on a compressed image, but if you look closely you'll notice there is a difference.

I can't seem to figure this out.

What I find odd here is that this guy has the whole map on two different computers.

Why would you do that only to show the two passages? Not to mention the fact that in both instances, he is standing next to the TP. Of course, it is possible that the guy just had incredibly bad luck with the doors, but I doubt. Looks fishy.

The perspective on the waypoint is different on the two s/shots. The distance between the top and bottom corners of the WP in the 1st s/shot is greater than in the 2nd one.
My guess - one is where the computer is running 2D Direct Draw, the other is 3D.

i think LozHinge the Unhinged is correct, chat /fps to see if one is using ddraw and the other is using d3d
everything else looks different between them
