View Full Version : my first occy! my first thoughts.

So a Frozen Creeper in Crystalline Passage kindly dropped a gold swirling crystal. To which I responded by immediately picking it up with glee, then pausing for a good 5 or so seconds in awe and delight.

I'm very happy, but never knew how terrible the teleport could be!
In the same zone there were Claw Vipers, and the bone spears they threw kept teleporting me around. (First time it happened, I was so confused... --> :shocked: ) Which, when I thought throughout my years of D2 about the occy and its delightful proc, turns out to be a pain in the butt.

So here's what I'm wondering.
How does the proc work? Does the teleport teleport you a defined distance away from where you were? In any direction? (sure seemed like it)
As well, is blocking from the shield and defense the only way to prevent the teleport form procing?

Back to enjoying my new toy. Thanks for any help :laugh:

its random as far as i know.. an i think its usefull, but some might think im odd :grin:

i only use occu on a sorc that has max bloxk.. otherwise iit would be uterly annoying. and yes.. blocking or not geting hit is the only way to prevent it

but there are alot of thingys you can block. like mephys cold ball of doom, succubus fireballs from hell and diablos redish chainlight of torture :thumbsup:

and many more..

After a while I accepted the ctc from occy, I thought it was the most annoying ctc an item could have until it saved my life over and over again. However I know a lot of people didnt have the same experience and the same feature got them killed over and over again. I guess it depends a lot on luck.
Edit: play carefully, the best way to avoid the teleport is to not get hit at all :smiley:

I used it in both block and no-block sorcs. It works better with block, no doubt. Though I haven't much bad experiences with my Spirit sorc either. I still think it's a great weapon for MF teleing, because you are always teleporting to some place anyway...

heheh.. i like that attitude. and as for an add on, it can really save your life :thumbsup:

I remember when I first got my Occy as well and got Teleported... I was quite confused indeed. I've gotten quite use to it now (I run Nith, alot, and the Succubus Blood Stars = lots of Teleporting), and it has saved my life more than it has killed me. Gets you out of stun lock situations at times, which is a life saver indeed.

The most epic Fail for the CTC Tele though was when it made me go backwards into the pack of Stygian dolls I was fleeing. Oh man did that frustrate me.

I personally prefer my OCcy to my Eschuta;s for the CTC, because my other sorc using the Eschuta's has a tendency to die more when swarmed than the occy using Sorc.

Just wait till we get into the later part of ladder season. No self-respecting sorc would be using an Occy... You'll have a hard time trying to sell it. :tongue:

Yikes, then I would avoid it if I were you. Hardcore cannot afford randomness I thinks.

And thats good Battleforce, cause it means all my sorcs will have them. So what does everyone end up using, Hoto? Yay cookie cutter goodness >.<

never used one, but logically you have the highest odds of teleporting when you're hit/block locked which also happens to be when teleport is most useful ;)

Rofl. That's horrible. The occy tele never affected me very much. It annoyed me at times, but it wasn't a big deal.

Yeah, everyone ends up using Hoto with CTA on switch, Maras, 2 SoJ, Mesh, War Travs, Chancies/Magies, and an entire inventory full of charms so that you have to TP back 9 times to sell or stash your baal drops.
