View Full Version : Act3 running with a javazon

Hey, I'm trying to make a javazon to run act 3 in NM and eventually Hell. As I dont have any items or means to get them, she'll essentially be untwinked.

My questions are... how common are LIs in the Act3 jungles/kurast areas, and how should I go about dealing with them.

I can think of gloams and those healer guys which are LI, and of course a couple council members, and those big tree things. Aside from them, I think maybe some of the zombie things are LI, but I'm not remembering any of the flayer types being LI, and they're what I'm really after.

So, am I correct in assuming a javazon is a good fit for Act3 jungle/kurast running? Thanks!

Do a hybrid using strafe as your main attack. Make a Harmony RW in the first 4 soc exceptional fast (-10) bow you find. I don't there is any monster that can resist this bow. It might kill slowly, but it will kill all.

that's a really good place to run too. the jungles have a high monster density and that's one of the first areas where monsters can drop skillers. i've run it before and even the light immunes dont slow you down much. souls suck, but you're in nm so they hurt less than in hell. get used to using decoy and slow missles... besides they arent in all the areas so maybe just avoid the latter parts of the jungle and focus on trav and the early parts of the jungle.

I'm hesitant to make a hybrid or a strafer, as I'm playing hardcore, and bowazons, especially untwinked ones are not typically going to do too well surviving.

Any important fhr/ias breakpoints I should know on a javazon?

I re-read my post today and thought, "That wasn't too helpful". Just stay out of the Marsh and you will do fine. According to the Facts & Formula archive, (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=551) 52 and 86 FHR are the best speed breaks that are practical. Personaly, I'd go with 20, you are a ranged attacker after all.

I don't worry about IAS (http://www.diabloii.net/characters/amazon/faq2.shtml#What%20is%20IAS?) much if I have Titans or some other -10 speed jav, 20-40 IAS tops.

Alright, thanks! Yeah I do have a titans, also a laying of hands, so I think my IAS should be alright.

My skill layout will be pretty standard (well, standard by how I make javazons, i'm not really sure what a cookie cutter one would exactly look like skillwise), how should I deal with the LI's? I could go with physical damage, but that could be a bit slow, my titans are 151%, and as this is hardcore, I'd prefer to keep her safely out of harms way.

I guess my options are either to pump a bit more into dodge//jab and go the physical route, get a bow on my switch, or use one of the poison javelin skills.

Which of those (or any I might have missed) is going to be my best bet? A harmony bow as you'd mentioned earlier might not be bad, as it'd let me tear around at top speed and pop all those chests in the kurasts, but I certainly don't have the means to make one yet. I think it's lem/ko and 2 lower runes to make harmony?

Sorry for my somewhat disorganized post:smiley:

I have a SC javazon that is level 87. This is like my 4th one but this time around I actually killed hell ball wich is a first for me.

Its seems like some of the gear you described is great, I also have the titans and laying of hands. This type of character seems to do well with better gear.

As far as nightmare is concerned I really didnt have THAT big of deal with the LI's, even on player 8. a slightly lower player setting would really speed things up.

Most of the time I just used JAB or the physical damage from my javelin throws to kill LI's (only works well in NM). Crushing blow is a godsend for this. Get Goreriders if you can.

The cutoff point for me seemed to be hell andarial on 8 players. After that it just took too long to kill things and the LI's started becoming PI's as well.
Its almost impossible to run hell meph due to the council. Stone skinned, LI, AND PI! Somtimes you will get lucky and they will only be LI but man if you get a bad roll on those monsters, forget it.

yes, HELL is when things hit the fan. you are going to need a real game plan to deal with LI's my freind. A very strong VALK is almost mandatory.
mercs are also good if you have the gear for them or the gold to keep bringing them back from the dead. The right weapon on switch could work, depends if you want to go with some bow or poison skills. Poison was too slow for me, the monsters would rush me anyways and I would be using JAB wether I wanted to or not. A bow does sound interesting if you found the right one. if you do go that route a valk, merc and decoy would give you more time to snipe those little buggers.

Oh and by the way, this is all coming from a pure lightning Javazon build player. (Im finding now that my valk is too weak due to my lightning skills sucking up all my points)

Either way NM shouldnt be any problem at all with some decent gear for any java build. You can really find some decent gear there. Esp meph runs, that is what I concentrated on. I say go for it. experiment with a mix of mf gear and higher end gear. This will give you the best speed which gets you more items.

For hell your options are to party up (if you can) or find yourself some really sweet gear (easier said than done).

hope this helps.

It does indeed, good call on the crushing blow, I'll have to try and find a source of that somewhere. I'm leaning more and more towards trying to get myself a harmony bow and dropping a point into GA or something. Hmm, maybe a WWS+strafe to trigger amp and then switch back to jab would work as well vs LI's.

Thanks for all the replies!

I suggest you to make a Fishyzon. Here is the link:

http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=464188

Currently i have a level 91 fishyzone and i can run hell Worldstone keep and kill baal without any problems. And souls? I wish they would do their lightning atack all the time instead of doing meele damage and stealing my mana :)

After I made this thread, I actually came across the fishy guide, and was thinking the same thing :)

I'm curious after reading it though, how are gloams not such a big problem in hell? Without some serious twinking, 175ish light resist (nevermind resist all) is not easy to come across, and Nightfish suggested ~900 life iirc before you start running. I havent done much playing lately, but I remember gloams as something which would knock that down pretty darn quick, what am I missing?

I did already drop 1 point each in avoid/evade/dodge, so it'll be a bit of a modified fishyzon.

Thanks, Matt

Use a thundergods vigor, these stats are great

+20 Lightning Absorb
10% To Maximum Lightning Resist

With 85% ls and 1,3k health i need like 5 souls to attack me with lightning and only then i can see my health dropping down a bit, but thats no problem with a potion :)
