View Full Version : Need Help on my Sorc Build
Im about to start my sorc build, and I have a few questions. As of right now I'm doing a Meteorb Sorc. Would it be better to stick to just one tree? If so which? Another concern I have is I have a Stormshield for this Sorc, and should I put the points in Dex for the 75% block? Or use the Vit. instead?
This is what I have planned for skills at the moment-
Orb- max
Cold mast- 10
Shiver armor- 1
Fireball- 3or4 then max after everything else
Meteor- max
Fire mast- max
Static field- 1
Teleport- 1
Telekinesis- 1
Warmth- 1
If you could answer some of these questions it would help me out. Thanks.

Metorb, bah
Honestly, invest way more in fireball first. It will make your life easier and I use it way way more than meteor, simply because I can spam it while casting orb.
Going single tree or not really depends on if this is your first char on the ladder, etc. Because single element sorcs really need nice gear to deal with immunes and keep the merc happy.
Yes, this will be my first char on ladder, actually my first char in about 4 yrs to be honest.

Skills point placement looks good.
If you want to use ss and max block. you would not have many stat left for vita.
May i ask why ss?...
Is it a pvp sorc? or just a MF finder sorc.
There's other better choice if you 're making a MFer.
If for PvP, then Meteorb is not a good PvP build.
Well, SS b/c I don't have anything else and I just started playing again so I dont really have anything. It's really just a PvM sorc for now until I get back into the grove of playing again. Then it could become a MF sorc later on.

I still strongly encourage you to level fireball to about 10 before you start investing heavily into Meteor. Fireball will be your primary killer for a long time...
My investment kinda went like...
5 into firebolt (Remember, I use fireball alot)
Slowly invested into Ice tree as I leveled for pre reqs.
Static, Telekineses, teleport as they came open.
Once I got fireball, spare points went into it till meteor opened up, then I swapped back and forth between the two for synergies and such.
Once I hit level 30, I dropped several points into orb and few into Cold Mastery, along with 1 into Fire Mastery. Fireball gets 14% boost from Met, and met gets 5% from fireball, mastery only give 7%. Its actually what I am investing in last.
Playing typically goes - Chuck orb, spam fireball, chuck another orb, rinse repeat. Meteor is used to break up dense packs of cold immunes and for Meph and bosses mostly now. Its great for running Meph as well.
So work on fireball more. What are your thoughts on the 75% block?
i would go single tree light myself now..there's enough hrs out there that you can now build an infinity

What if you couldn't afford it?
To OP, I second the putting more in fireball part. A high lvl fireball can kill enemies very fast. Block or not is a personal choice, as you are basically trading kill speed for safety.
Why lightning? Whats wrong with meteorb? Im just looking for diff. people's opinions on this.

If you can afford infinity, lightning kills fast.
Sry, I haven't played in 4 yrs... Whats an infinity? a weapon?
Its a runeword made in Polearm that gives ur merc a convition aura that -85%res from ur enemies, breaking most lit immunes and makin those not immune to u die in seconds. Also, I suggest max block if u dont need anymore +skills from spirit because sorc only get 2 hp from 1 point of vit, which is the low end of what chars get. losing ~400 hp for 75% chance to block physical attacks(especially arrows) is in my opinion a very good tradeoff. However, I do not suggest Stormshield if u go the block route because the str req is way too high and the block % really sucks for a sorc. Instead, try whistan's guard, which gives insane block chance, or if u dont mind upping a little more str, Gerke's sanctuary is an extremely good choice as it comes with res all, pdr, mdr, regen hp, and a higher block chance than ss.
block > vitality on a sorc in my opinion.. 2 life per 1 point in vit is crap ratio
So should I trade my SS? If so what should I trade for it?

Save it to use in another char, IMO. SS is a nice shield, but not a good option for untwinked PvM sorc IMO. It requires too much str to be equiped let alone dexterity needed for block. Block or vitality is personal choice and you will only be able to make decision after you have experienced both. Both work well if you know what you're doing. My PERSONAL view is that block is easiest to play from the start and untwinked, even if I'm not able to hit 75% block before hell diff.
Are whistan's guards pretty hard to get?

Should be relatively easy to get.
So if I don't want to use this SS on another char. what should I trade for it? My gear as it stands
Shako
Shaftstop
Sandstorm boots
are the only things worth saying. Me not playing in awhile, what would be a good trade for my SS for what I need? Please answer me this

Not sure what an SS is worth right now, but Whitstan's and Vipermagi with nice resists should be a good start. Search the Trade Values forum or the trade forum of your realm so you can have a better clue on what to get for it.
I'd say keep the SS, its really not worth trading. Have you decided if you are going max block or what?
Ya max block and since I dont play that much i just went ahead and used the SS
