I think I messed up...

i was hoping to make a blizzard/frozen orb sorceress, but i think i messed up

lvl 75:
20 ice bolt
15 ice blast
1 glacial spike
20 blizzard
20 mastery
2 orb
1 teleport
1 telekineses
1 warmth

i do about 1500-1600 dmg with blizzard, and only like 78-107 with orb. what im afraid of is that im not going to finish this sorc in time (as in before lvl 85-90-ish) while having a decent orb/blizzard.
or maybe it's my gear? i have 2 +skill items by the way. one from a sorc orb and another from telling of beads amulet.

i feel like a nub asking this XP

Theres no point to have both blizzard and frozen orb.

Only two points in orb, not a huge waste. stop working on orb, finish blizzard synergies. use orb as a utility skill when you need a large room full of monsters to be blue. It may work well on carver camps but don't try to kill with it otherwise.

put a point in static field.

Do try to get some more +skills from your gear. Lore helm, things like that.

There's no need to rebuild. Blizzard should just work with that setup. But your Blizzard damage according to my calculations should read 1848-1990. Try working now at improving your equipment. Start looking for a 4 sock Broad sword, or at last resort, spend a socket quest to make one and make yourself a Spirit. It will be best than that Orb in any way. You should be safe enough to MF NM Mephisto and maybe Baal. With time better gear will appear...

Only thing I see really over done is the Cold Mastery.

But like others have said, just stop investing in Orb, since you cannot cast both at once.

Some advice on getting +skills gear.

Gamble on circlets and Amulets.
Runeword Spirit in a Sword. Its cheap to make, and finding a 4os sword is really not that hard.
Runeword Lore Helm (if you can't find a Circ)
Visceratuant Unique Defender shield
Que Hagen's armors go cheap because everyone wants Vipermagi. Probably get one for a few pgems.

That, with your telling of beads, would give you +6 to skills, for no more than a Sol rune. Just run the countess in NM for those.

And yeah, put 1 pt in Static field. Its amazingly handy.

This build is pretty much screwed up. I won't bother trying to lvl it up further cuz it will be a royal pain. But it is good enough to farm NM Meph with that Blizzard. And before you make your next sorc, be sure to check out the guides stickied above..

I think thats a bit extreme Battle... he has 2 points in orb and maybe too many in cold mastery (though, its also his only tree). Point in static and just pump synergies and this sorc would be quite effective still. What he really needs is new gear...

What? Coldmastery is one of the most important skills to invest your points in.
This built seems fine too me and even with mediocer gear (a spirit sword is really easy for example) he can run mephi hell easy. (when reaching the 80's)
Its great to make wealth, don't waste time at making another one that is less imperfect, you can always make perfect ones later when you have the wealth.

i hit 3700 with my blizzard right now, and have about 15 points in cold mastery... that makes moating meph really quick. (but i actually just let merc tank and i kill but moating is just as fast)

so with your damage you should be able to do meph at a normal speed... all you need to worry about is not dying while getting to meph, and using a moating strategy that wont get you killed by aggro'ing stuff... cause your damage doesnt look like it would save you if you're in a bind...

it's hard for me to get to meph, those dolls kill me. but my bliz does about 2.3k-2.6k now, not sure if it's enough for hell meph

What is your Faster Cast Rate %? I found that hitting the 105% break point helps alot when teleing in the Durance.

Lidless has 20%, so you have 76% right now. Try to find a Vipermagi for trade, and that will put you at 106%

It makes a huge difference.
