View Full Version : help me choose a mf build
hi this is my first post and I'm very new to the sorc business and i was wondering what is the easiest build to start out with if your looking for mfing and your an untwinked char. I've looked at "vaga's MF sorc" and it sounds like a good 1, other than the fact that its bi-treed and i dont know if thats ok with a sorc, I'm used to playing meele chars were you want to focus all efforts into 1 area. please get back to me and if you want to talk to me ingame i have a
lvl 47 were druid named Nimmix
and a
lvl 1 sorc named Tampix (didnt want to start here till i gto heads up).
A good and relative easy to play sorc would be a MeteOrb (read guide) or a pure-tree sorc.
The MeteOrb excels in running areas an bosses like Diablo/Baal where-as the pure sorcs are much better at doing Mephisto/Andariel and Pindle - fire/lightning builds have an easy time with Shenk/Eldrich too.
But if this is your first sorc, I'd go with a MeteOrb. Remeber, against immunes you can lock the monster with telekinesis to help your merc should you not have a spell for it.
jek thnx for the advice im looking up mete sorc now. but I'm going to wait for a few more posts till i choose and also i still don't know who pindle is. also what drops has the most consistent unq would you say i know its random but i would think the higher act the better drop so if mete can clear out diablo and baal fairly ez it sounds like im going for that build but plzz people post more i want to hear all your opinions before i put 20+ hours into a char to find out it has huge flaw that other builds support more.
-just read meteorb guide sounds a lot like vaga's just opposite instead of cold tree being main its fire
Pindleskin is a unique monster found in Anya's portal in Act 5.
The most consistent unique dropping mob to farm is Meph and Andy, because they are the easiest bosses to get to.
I would prefer making a pure cold or a pure fire sorc if you plan on running Meph or Andy, otherwise I would make a Meteorb if I was farming an area that has cold and/or fire immunes.

not sure, but i made a pure lightning sorc and they fare pretty well against mephisto and andariel, hell and nightmare.
guys you've been great I'm going to make a pure cold mastery sorc. if it weren't for you I would of made a bi-treed char and found out later my build could of been done 20 lvls ago thnx for the help and so far i love the community.

Nothing wrong with a dual tree sorc. People who do solo runs tend to use it, unless they have infinity.

I second AnimeCraze's opinion. Single tree sorcs tend to have more trouble soloing areas with monsters immune to their element, unless they have a godly merc.
how would you guys rate a meteorb sorc for mfing hell andy and meph? I'm thinking about making one.
At the moment i have a pure blizz soso for running hell meph andy and countess (countess and minions is immune to cold though, so static and be sure your merc can tank them)
I find meph to be the best of almost all runs because of time/safety/good drops and blizz takes him out really fast (just tele and lure him to the right corner next to the skelewalkway, then you can tele to the right corner on the left half of the map below the "river" and you can blizz meph in your upper right corner where he is stuck without being able to attack you)
All of the stuff on my character is selffound and she's lvl 86 at the moment, and the wealth of uniques are flowing rapidly at the moment. (also don't be affraid of making the first or untwinkeled character NOT perfect, there is no shame in putting points into str so you can put that monarch to use instead of delaying and saving all points untill you get all +stat equipment, it will save you a lot of time)
